While I may miss the downtown, I need to see this Museum plan bankrupt the city — and force a new governance to sweep away the trash that is causing this carnage. Let the retailers and restaurants chase her from the town and disparage her memory."

I am really concerned about parking meters in our downtown. If they do that, they have killed the downtown for good. NO one will come to Lake Worth for any reason. I for one, would ever use and pay for parking.
I didn't vote for Betty and now I never will. Is she term limited or what?
Dan , hate to break it to you but lake worth beach is a cesspool are you blind go look at 6th south and Dixie, then check out 12th down to 18th, don’t forget the “cultural plaza” and Bryant park, the alleys from south A to south H street, the brothels busted monthly, junkies getting high on park bench’s that grandma sits on watching her grandkids, just to name a few. If we wanted to pool on our prime beach it would be there already it’s been many years .

I don't think this Commission is corrupt. I think that they are VERY easily influenced by any con man that waves a Golden Ticket in front of their faces. When was the last time that your commissioner knocked on your door or sent you a survey about proposed projects in the mail? Why is the CRA still in our downtown and not the alphabet streets where a CRA belongs? Why does our Commission still have a car allowance if things are so tight? Does the Commission need a secretary ? They can answer their own damn phones and do everything else that a secretary does. CUT THE FAT ! NOBODY wants a damn museum down town! How about putting a splash pad in the cultural plaza? Families would love it ! Heck, everybody would love it. (it's one way to clean up the homeless bums that stink up our town ! )
Palm Beachers don’t come downtown because of our reputation as a crime ridden cesspool, providing easy safe parking will help bring customers with disposable income to shop and will entice businesses to move in.

to anon@2:50. I hate to break it to you, but there are many thousands of people that love Lake Worth, and I am one of them. We have some very nice neighborhoods, and a downtown that I would take over West Palm, DelRay, Boca, Lauderdale or Miami. Its not even close. This is a better downtown--Better is not about being bigger or having the most expensive Real Estate---better is the ambience of the town, the absence of the hustle and bustle that stole a town like DelRay's soul ---and Lake Worth is better because it is more Mayberry USA... and less Miami. Urban is a. sickness Lake Worth has not yet been infected with.
For 30 years now and lw has never improved, it is so blighted and crime infested, all the decent people left this city 10 years ago!
to CRA kiss-ass at 3:38. Palm Beachers will not want to use the crime infested garage Betty and the CRA would want to build--they will valet because it using a valet a better way to dine out. For that matter, plenty of middle class people in Lake Worth will not like the crime potential of this stupid parking garage. But hey, the movers and shakers have 10 million dollars of our money, and if they can't spend it on a project like the garage, how are they going to afford their new cars and vacations?
Dan has said it before and I agree with him: clean up the downtown of the illegals and the people who don't belong there. I'm not just talking about the homeless but there are plenty of people who shouldn't be in our downtown. Make life as difficult for them so they will go to Riviera Beach or West Palm Beach where their people hang out and let us enjoy the DT area without seeing their kind. If you know your history, Lake Worth has done it before and they can do it again.

This is what snowbirds have been saying since the murders of Canadian tourists at the majestic gas station on lake and federal in 1991 including a dozen more in South Florida I’ve known many service workers and snowbirds on the South ocean strip from slones curve condos down to dune deck no one wants anything to do with lake worth besides 2-3 restaurants that we complain about prides and valet parking. .

Regarding the Homeless, my position is that this is mostly a drug addiction mental illness for the majority that refuse to go to a shelter and live without drugs--this is mental illness and choice of drug addiction and the crimes they afford it with begs a criminal prosecution --- for their own good--to get them off of drugs and to potentially have a decent life...The rest of what you are saying is made up stuff I do not stand behind.
Lake Worth (beach ) is not a crime ridden cess pool. Tons of people enjoy coming to our down town. We currently have free parking. An increasing rarity in South Florida. Paid parking in the down town was tried in the past . It failed miserably. There are ongoing costs to a parking garage that I as a LW tax payer do not want to fund. The "it will pay for itself and generate SOOOOO much revenue "is a pipe dream. Have the residents been surveyed about these issues ? Do they want a parking garage and a museum ?

anon@4:01..... I have never, ever said that Lake Worth is not a nice place to live.... It is my favorite place to live in the state of Florida, bar none. This is true even with the drug addicted homeless, which of course are handled incorrectly in most other cities in Florida. Drugs are bad period--we should go back to the way it was prosecuted in the 1970s in New York--- most of our druggies would end up going away--forever, and this is what they deserve unless they can get clean and remain clean. Failure needs to return them to a livetime of incarceration--better still, send them to New Your City to live and put up barbed wire fences and gun turrets all around the perimeter. The movie version ( Escape from NY with Jeff Bridges) of this was an excellent common sense evolution.
