This new ideology isn’t about solving problems. It’s about signaling virtue by burning through mountains of other people’s money.
This political playbook treats your tax dollars like Monopoly money in a game where the only goal is to buy loyalty. The most outlandish and expensive programs are hailed as the most “caring,” even as they fail spectacularly.
It’s a cynical racket designed to enrich a few politically connected insiders and hook a permanent class of citizens on government dependency. And right now, New York City is providing a masterclass in this very brand of self-destruction.
Let’s call this what it is: fiscal insanity. For a mind-boggling $1.9 billion (yes, that’s billion with a ‘B’), the Mamdani administration is renting hotel rooms. Just renting.
After three years of this firehose of cash, the city will own precisely nothing. Not a single building. Not one long-term asset. This isn’t a policy; it’s a straight-up wealth transfer from the taxpayers of New York to the hotel industry, and it does absolutely nothing to fix the underlying problem.

@3:03...don't know how to answer that question. Both cities are not run well. The difference is that NYC is our major city in the country with nearly 9 million people. It is the financial capital of the world. Lake Worth Beach has a ppulation of about 48,000 half of whom are probably illegals and a city that never listens to its citizens and wants to turn it over to developers. So enlighten me since I am so "ignorant." To answer the question, having a Muslim socialist/communist running the most important city on the planet is absurd and a threat to democracy. It's starting to look like London with Allahu akbar.
