Flashback: John Kerry bragged about getting election support from foreign leaders in ‘private’ conversations

Kerry is saying that President Trump has abused his power by contacting the Ukraine president--

BUT,  he said this in 2004 when he was running for President: “I’ve met foreign leaders who can’t go out and say this publicly, but boy they look at you and say, ‘you’ve got to win this, you’ve got to beat this guy, we need a new policy.’ Things like that,” Kerry reportedly said in 2004. At the time, Kerry refused to name the leaders--he kept mum on names because he said that sort of trust between leaders was necessary to run the country.
