County commission incumbents questioned about campaign contributions

Comment Up

The Palm Beach County Commission forum was held Wednesday at the Kravis Center with the former editor of the Palm Beach Post, Randy Schultz as moderator. Those attending were Hal Valeche and his opponent Tony Bennett, along with Mary Lou Berger and Dave Kerner whose opponents were "no shows." I talked with one of the opponents who said he got some sort of a notice a few months ago but nothing since and it was not on his calendar.

The Headline of the Palm Beach Post article read "Commission candidates say contributions, votes not tied."

This is the very subject that Katie McGiveron brought up to them at the Tuesday Board of County Commission meeting telling them that in her opinion there could be a conflict when voting on issues before them. One other resident, Christine Schwartz, even called it "pay to play."

They should be questioned. Thanks, Katie.

Honest candidates like Drew Martin don't stand a chance against the ones who sell their souls to get a big campaign war chest. The first thing that the candidates get asked when going to endorsement interviews? How much money have you raised. Not why are you qualified to do the job, but how much money have you raised. That explains the obscene worship of a local disgraced politico with a penchant for capital hill pages. He kept a slush fund of a million or so dollars that he swings between his legs to all of the local political whores . Instead of slinking off into the mud in disgrace like he should have,he's quite the local political Sugar Daddy.Combine this with the local rag in the Palm Beaches that is as bought and paid for as the candidates it endorses and it's no surprise that we are corruption county.
