I just read where Dr. M. Lee Toothman passed away one week ago. He was my dentist when I was a child and living in West Palm Beach attending Central Elementary School. I remember the huge fish tank as I sat in his dental chair. It was a calming effect for me and consequently I was never afraid of him working on my teeth. He was essentially a young guy although I thought of him as ancient at the time. He began his practice in 1951 and retired in 1992.
Through the years I have thought of him especially when my first job was that of a dental assistant in Bristol, Tennessee. I often wondered if he chose his profession because of his last name.
Rest in peace.
