It's never good policy to ignore the press under any circumstances, unless you have something to hide or you are worried about your own credibility issues.
Scott Maxwell recently did just that when he failed to respond to a request from the author of Transgender City Manager Ousted From Lake Worth for Personal Reasons who was looking for a statement as to why he fired former city manager Susan Stanton. More than likely it was because there were NO reasons.

Scott Maxwell didn't fire the CM, it a collective action of the majority of commissioners. Had they thought it was the wrong thing to do, they had the opportunity to vote it down. End of story...
Have I read the article? No.Just by looking at the title ALONE,I would say that Maxwell did the right thing by not talking to a biased reporter who was PROBABLY not going to let pesky FACTS get in the way of a predetermined story.. Anything he would/could have said would have been twisted .Another poor Susan,they couldn't see your brilliance because of the hate story.Well,bull honkey to that!Stanton was not fired for "personal reasons".The reporters of this story need to take a long look at our city hall. It says "Lake Worth" city hall. Not " Stanton's House". Yellow journalism is not going to be tolerated by the American people any longer,wether it's a biased gay reporter or a biased Cnn reorter out to lie about political candidates.Katie Mcgiveron
Well I just read the "article".It was as expected.
I AM SURE THE GAYS WILL USE THE GAY CARD ON THIS ONE TO RIP MAXWELL APART. I DO NOT CARE FOR MAXWELL A BIT, HE IS LOUD AND USES A LOT OF FOUL LANGUAGE, THE F WORD SEEMS TO BE HIS FAVORITE.
I DO THINK THAT IT WAS BEST FOR THE CITY AS A WHOLE TO RELEASE STANTON, SHE WAS NOT NICE EITHER, MEAN AND NASTY TO MOST RESIDENTS AND THE PUBLIC, THAT CANNOT BE TOLERATED EITHER. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HER TRANS-GENDER BACKGROUND, SHE WASN'T EVEN GAY AS A MAN.
WE NEED TO VOTE OUT MAXWELL AND HOPE WE CAN GET A GOOD CM THAT CAN RELATE BETTER TO ALL THE PEOPLE IN THIS CITY, THAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME.

The little babies got yelled at by the city manager. She looked at someone crossed eyed. She disagreed with them. She made them get to work on time. She terminated those not doing their jobs. She worked 16 hour days getting our city in shape. The Unions hated her because she tried to save the city money. She put in security because some hyper nut case entered her offices screaming at her. His feelings had been hurt.
Katie, as I recall you can get somewhat testy yourself. If not fired for personal reasons, name the reasons.
Wasn't Scott Maxwell outed at one time for being racist. Why should anyone believe that he is not anti gay?
The issue is not bias or bigotry, but what is best for the city. The commission made a choice, for reasons not expressed but widely suspected, and time will tell if it's bad for the city or good.
The way it was done does not inspire hopes for fairness and competency, but those are not often part of Lake Worth's process.

Next, because you don't like the headline of my blog post does not mean that it is false. Get over yourself. Go sing to your choir at the other blog that does take pot shots at people every day who disagree with them. If you can't just debate the issue, that I have requested you do, then good bye. It is YOU that is being divisive and not the other way around. You won the dais so what ever is your problem? Use your power wisely.
Lynn, What was the vm response to you when you asked him why he didn't respond to reporter?
Why would I ask Scott that? Would I do that to get a political response or one that feigns ignorance like, "Oh I never got the email," the response he gives when he doesn't answer e-mails from residents. Give me a break.

I just love all these people who keep saying that the people spoke in the last election and wanted the cm out, etc. I never heard that, not even once. I thought she was doing a good job.
