A possible Public/Private Partnership at our beach complex?

Lake Worth Beach Commission takes first step to re-open ocean-side complex

That was the headline in Yahoo News...a little misleading!

One of the major hindrances that was not mentioned in this article is that the former city manager, Michael Bornstein, did not want the pool. When he first came into office he called it a "White elephant," thus it languished for years and eventually died once the water was removed and left to the elements to decay..

Most of us want the pool rebuilt exactly as is in exactly the same place and do NOT want a public/private partnership. But this commission is willing to listen to proposals that could give up control of our entire beach park but still retaining ownership

How much is our beach worth? There is no price tag on this extremely valuable property. And commissioners, it is not all about making money. Get the correct employees in place to manage and market this park. It is an amenity that attracts tourism and residents alike.

Personally, I believe it sinful to not repair this when we had a chance for $509,000. Staff went along with Bornstein and so now we have a pool that will cost millions to replace. But a public/private partnership really could give away the whole enchilada.

The residents have told the city that they want our pool to be repaired and re-opened and Kimley-Horn told them in 2019 that it could be repaired for $509,000--We don't need millions poured into our pool--fix what you messed up.

You're living in the past Lynn.

Don't you have a pool at Lake Osborne?

Well, who is it about? The only kids in Lake Worth are tourists. Most tourists stay in hotels with pools. Then, there is the ocean. Exactly who would you be spending all of that money on the pool for?

No kids in LW? Seriously? They are just tourists ? Seriously? You really don't understand the value of having a pool at our beach. Clueless.

No, I really don't. And as far as kids, if you are referring to grandkids, or pampered dogs, they are the only kids I see.

The dogs have their own park, and the grandkids can go home and go to their own pool.

Such a unhappy person you seem. There are many reasons for adults and children along with visitors to do at the pool. LA is missing out in Events for both at the Casino complex. Just need the right person to get it going. Give peace a chance my friend

@3:13...thanks for your insight. With the right person(s) who believe that we can have the best beach park in Florida, let's go forward and rebuild our pool, market it correctly and bring tourism back to Lake Worth. And of course, rehire Sally Welch--the best.

Yes, unhappy to be with so-many unrealistic dreamers. So many missed opportunities while the dreamers fantasize that it's 100 years ago, and the pool is a happy place for the happy children of Lake Worth, all of whom haven't had a pool to swim in for 10 years, and are now, almost ready to collect Social Security. But don't worry, if they can just hurry up and get it finished, one of those youngsters might just be able to lead a jazzercize class for the seniors at the pool.

Anyone that wants to say anything about our pool should have to prove they have lived her for 20 years
