As a former smoker of cigarettes, I quit the dangerous habit 31 years ago. I suppose I have a bigger aversion to smoking than someone who never smoked before as now just the smell of it makes me sick, in more ways than one. It is sad that another establishment like this is now operating in our downtown but until it becomes illegal, it's here.
On July 1, 2013 HB 49 became law that prohibits the retail sale of certain drug paraphernalia and provides for criminal penalties but you can still smoke the stuff.
720 Lake Avenue
President of this corporation is AHMAD R. AHMAD
People often believe that smoking from a hookah removes the nicotine and other toxins from the tobacco. This is not true. The nicotine in hookah tobacco is addictive, and like cigarette smokers, people who smoke hookah are at risk for lung cancer, stomach cancer, cancer of the esophagus, respiratory diseases, heart disease, and fertility problems. Hookah Facts
The establishment already had 5 disciplinary warnings from the State in October and they were corrected six days later.

How old do you have to be to smoke this stuff? He is just preying on dumb kids. Once they smoke that, then they can go get a tattoo or something. Perhaps they can walk down and drink some kava, do a little car burglary while they're at it.
At 9:47 spot on, this is what Lake ave is attracting, sober house rejects.
I believe the age is 18.
Creepy passive aggressive photo taking lady stricks again!
It's more like passive resistance.
Just a hop skip and a jump from the Kava den and Vape store! What a great little down town we're building! I can just see the money from Palm Beach flooding in to our ARTIST DESTINATION now !
Beware of that "artsy" designation of our city. Artsy is PCspeak for drugs.
How do you suggest we deal with this? It's a free country and anyone can open a business if they have the resources and energy to do so.
How about getting normal people to actually show up downtown, be present and actively protest these not so fine establishments. While they're at it, maybe these normal people can visit the legitimate small businesses to give them their support as wellbecause they're struggling with this epidemic.
Last night about 10:15pm, the vape and kava place were packed with puffers and overly loud music flooded the street for blocks. I don't live downtown, but if I did live in the Lucerne I sure would be bitching about noise ordinance violations.
I agree with you, I hate the smell of smoke. I expect I have the right to breathe clean air. My right to breathe trumps anybody else's right to send second hand smoke into my space.
Rehabbers and addicts have one common activity they share. They all smoke or hang out with their friends who do. that's why there's always clouds of smoke, and littered cigarette butts at these locations, I want J St. in front of the common Gran and Bamboo Room, and it Bryant Park where they have their little meetings.
So along with above mentioned idea of picket protesting these activities… We need folks to make a physical present and be in their faces, why don't we promote an ordinance that says no smoking in the downtown corridor? Now that is PCspeak for these dirtbags are not welcome.
who is the owner?
I assume it is Ahmad but it's a corporation.
A group of friend sat outside recently at a pizzeria we were harassed by bums begging for change, this wouldn't happen elsewhere in the county, owner of restaurant did nothing, we had to chase them off, I haven't been back.
La verdad que estas noticias me dan alegria, que puedan abrir más tiendas de cachimbas, es mejor que abrán estancos por ejemplo. Fumar cachimba es menos perjudicial que fumar tabaco u otras cosas. Que buena noticia.
This business is no longer in our city. But there is a new one on Lake Avenue.
The charcoal used to heat the tobacco can raise health risks by producing high levels of carbon monoxide, metals, and cancer-causing chemicals, clogged arteries, etc.
Hookah is not safer than smoking cigarettes.
