Crime in Lake Worth

Comment Up

Lake Worth strives to be number one in something -- number one city for fun; number one city for beach-going; number one for the most beautiful golf course on the Intracoastal Waterway; number one for a tourist destination, great downtown, etc., of course Bryant Park is getting ruined which has a lot to do with us being a Sanctuary City--but crime is not one of the categories for which it wants to be known.

Now Kevin D. Thompson of the Palm Beach Post has been given a tip about the amount of crime in this city. It seems there are some who are very offended and refuse to believe the stats and won't take credit for all of it. They are sick of Lake Worth being outed for all the crime and making national lists and Kevin has promised to have an article out this weekend.

There is a 1 in 14 chance of being the victim of a violent or property-related crime in Lake Worth, which is even more upsetting considering it's not one of Florida's big cities by any means. Nonetheless, we definitely recommend a visit to the country's largest street painting festival, where temporary masterpieces seem to jump off the pavement.

We do have tons of crime in Lake Worth. However, I am curious as to how the stats were done for this study. Every time I see a news story on T.V. about a stabbing or shooting way out to almost state road 441 and they say"stabbing in LAKE WORTH "!!!! it upsets me. Maybe Mayor Triolo should have a news conference and demand some responsibility from our local news outlets. And while she's at it she can publicly say that Lake Worth IS NOT a sanctuary city.

She can say that we're not a sanctuary city but saying is not believing or making it so. They are all here thanks to the Guatemalen Center and the churches and of course, the PBSO who won't call ICE unless there is a warrant.

We do have a serious crime problem in this City, but lumping our crime together with areas out west that happen to have Lake Worth as a mailing address isn't helpful.

I wish the Post would do an article on the City of Lake Worth's crime alone and how we compare to other parts of the county, etc.

We can't be a sanctuary city since we don't have our own police force. PBSO may be uncooperative with ICE as a lot of police forces are, but its clear that we have little to no control or sway over PBSO. The churches, etc. are a problem they do the homeless feedings and encourage the illegals to live here.
