COVID-19 Model Projections

Model Projects When the Coronavirus Will Peak in Each State

The United States, as a whole, is roughly two weeks away from reaching the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, but the peaks for individual states will vary, with most occurring over the next four weeks, according to projections from the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME).

The bad news for Florida is May 3.

Chuck Todd crossed the line with this coronavirus question that should get him fired

"NBC’s Chuck Todd once claimed the Fake News Media didn’t take sides.

But every week Todd’s Meet the Press program turns into a one hour infomercial for the Democrat Party.

The latest example was this past Sunday when Todd asked former Vice President Joe Biden if the President had “blood on his hands” from the deaths of Americans infected with the coronavirus.

“Do you think there is blood on the president’s hands considering the slow response?” Todd asked.

France is doing it!

The French government has officially sanctioned prescriptions of chloroquine to treat certain coronavirus patients. In the United States, President Donald Trump has also been touting the use of chloroquine and two other anti-malaria drugs to fight the virus.

Speaking about chloroquine, Jérôme Salomon, France's director general of health, said: "This ensures continued treatment of patients who have been treated for several years for a chronic condition with this drug, but also allows a temporary authorization to allow certain patients with coronavirus to benefit from this therapeutic route."

In the US, the Food and Drug Administration has moved quickly to make the unproven treatment available to tens of thousands of patients in New York with COVID-19. [France24]

Bornstein in charge of Lake Worth (Beach) - SURPRISE??!

Coronavirus Florida: Another Lake Worth Beach commissioner has concerns with city manager’s actions

We've always known that City Manager Mike Bornstein runs this city, not the city commission that rubbers stamps everything. Now one of our elected commissioners is just finding this out? I know Robinson knows this but he's never wanted to admit it or cause any waves.

"In a Facebook message posted Wednesday, Commissioner Herman Robinson said Bornstein has canceled two scheduled meetings involving the city commission without explanation and added he’s been told Bornstein will correspond with commissioners only through “non-verbal communication.”

Bornstein was handed emergency powers during a raucous city commission meeting Thursday, March 19 that drew wide national attention after video of a heated verbal exchange between Mayor Pam Triolo and Commissioner Omari Hardy went viral."

City Hall closed at Lake Worth (Beach)

Just read it on Instagram so I called the main line and inquired. It IS closed but it was not mentioned on their web page. The receptionist will alert IT. I guess they are still too upset about the crazy Thursday Special Meeting.

Message from Mayor Pam Triolo of Lake Worth (Beach)

As Mayor I wanted to let you know that the City of Lake Worth Beach is doing all we can to deal with the Covid19 Pandemic.  The Commission and the City staff are working nonstop to meet the needs and address the concerns of all our citizens.

Unfortunately, what transpired at Thursday’s emergency Commission meeting has become a focal point that is overshadowing all the good that is being done here in the City.

There were things said between Commissioner Hardy and myself during the meeting and during the recess, both on and off camera, that created a lot of undue stress and emotion. I was very upset about what I perceived as bullying and unnecessary attacks on the Commission and our processes by Commissioner Hardy. I was also concerned about how the issue of the suspension of utility disconnections was being inaccurately portrayed.

To be clear, no one is being denied Water, Sewer or Electric service as disconnections had been suspended starting on Wednesday March 18th. Most accounts disconnected in the transition period were reconnected that day and all late fees and re-connection fees are being reversed. Commissioner Hardy was aware of this before the meeting.

During the meeting I believed the credibility of the Commission and the City staff was under attack, and while I took the right action, I apologize for the way it had to be done.

I encourage Commissioner Hardy to join me in examining our interactions in the public and to come back together in a united front to deal with the current crisis.  That should be the focus, and regardless of differences of opinion we must lead by example and where we must disagree, do so without being disagreeable.

Florida Budget 2020

A few highlights from Mike Caruso-

"Thursday, March 19th concluded the 2020 Legislative Session with a non-traditional Sine Die ceremony due to the Novel Covid-19 outbreak. Instead of the usual grand ceremony where the Sergeants from both the Senate and House drop the white handkerchiefs while lobbyists, elected officials and staff look on, the two Sergeants stood six feet away with just one camera recording while they dropped the handkerchiefs to the floor. It was followed by a telephonic media availability with Governor DeSantis, Speaker Oliva and President Galvano. Definitely not a normal close to the legislative session.

I believe this year’s $93.2 billion budget is fiscally responsible and prioritizes funding in the best interest of all Floridians. I'm sure the number one question about the budget will be how much is Florida going to spend on the Covid-19 response? We have budgeted $60.6 million for now and have over $4 billion in reserves if necessary."

City Commission Meeting goes Viral - "You're Done!"

Lake Worth commissioner, mayor butt heads over coronavirus response in the city

WPEC channel 12 News ran a segment last night on the outlandish and explosive City of Lake Worth Commission meeting that was held this past Thursday. Frankly, segments of the video have gone viral on the Internet. Instagram is in a continual attack mode against the mayor on her food page. It's all become ugly.

"A city commission meeting in Lake Worth on Thursday turned ugly as a commissioner and the mayor butted heads over the city's handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

During the emergency meeting, city officials discussed a local utility company's role during the coronavirus pandemic and the issue of residents losing power for failure to pay utility bills."

I would not describe this meeting as a "discussion" but rather a pathetic example of those in charge not taking the proper and quick action during this pandemic and whose only goal was to shut down Commissioner Hardy and his legitimate concerns.

Biological Weapons Facility in Wuhan

"While the grounds for the claim have yet to be revealed, I suspect that it may be more than a coincidence that Ground Zero for coronavirus, Wuhan, is also the home of China’s center for biological warfare. Perhaps the watchdog group, Freedom Watch, and its founder, Larry Klayman, know something that we don’t. Time will tell as the lawsuit moves forward." [PowderedWig]

Conquering COVID-19

This was sent to me by friend, Jason...it is a very interesting video by
Dr. Dan Dimke, PhD.

Snopes says the entire suggestion is false but they're not scientists either.

"This is a Banana Republic...You Failed to Act," said Commissioner Hardy

For all of you who missed watching the City Commission Special Meeting last night--all I can say is "Holy Cow!" This special meeting was "special" in every sense of the word.

Over the last several years, this commission has done its best to shut Commissioner Hardy up. Omari Hardy challenged the city manager and the mayor (who was extremely rude towards Hardy even calling it his "dog and pony show" and interrupting him on many occasions) on the Coronavirus pandemic for what Hardy perceived as their lack of concern for our residents and employees. The meeting was contentious from the "get go" and Hardy left the city manager and city attorney faltering and even tongue-tied in their answers to some of his questions.

The mayor took residents' comments that were submitted online. One of them was well stated but ran over the 2 minutes as the mayor read it into the record all but the last sentence. The last paragraph that we did not hear in its entirety is as follows:
"In the meantime, I suggest that the City Manager declare success and move on. AND the Mayor and Esteemed Commissioners turn back the clock and become VOLUNTEERS. The savings in salaries, payroll taxes and benefits can be reassigned to a City Fund for City residents who have found themselves unemployed through no fault of their own."
Another "holy cow" moment that was eliminated from public commentary.

New Business began at 19 minutes into the meeting on Resolution 11-2020 giving emergency powers to the Mayor and City Manager.

The meeting backup:
SUMMARY:
In light of the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) being declared a federal, state and local emergency, Resolution No. 11-2020 seeks to reaffirm the emergency powers of the Mayor and City Manager.

BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION:
Historically, in the event of an emergency, the Mayor has utilized her power set forth in Article III, Section 3 of the City’s Charter, to issue a Declaration of a State of Local Emergency when determined necessary. Likewise, in the past, the City Manager has acted in response to an emergency with temporary policies and practices to address the emergency in an efficient and prompt manner. Resolution No. 11-2020 seeks to reaffirm these emergency powers of the Mayor and City Manager to address the COVID-19 and other emergencies as they may emerge and change over time.

At 1 hour into the meeting, Commissioner Hardy told the city manager, in so many words, that he is a liar!  It got very explosive after that. The Mayor screamed--was out of control. And eventually Omari completely "lost it" for the run-around he received during this meeting. Check out Omari at 1 hour and 32 minutes into the meeting. The Mayor recessed the meeting. Eventually the commission resumed and the vote was 4/1 with Hardy dissenting.

"China is responsible for the current coronavirus hysteria that has engulfed every nation on earth. The communist regime is to blame for the decline of the stock market, school closures, empty shelves and everything else COVID-19 related.

Therefore, it’s kind of depressing to see left-wing journalists blast President Trump for referring to the disease as the 'Chinese Virus.' This is absolutely all on China. And now we know that if they had acted sooner, less people would be dead and life never would’ve had to slow down."

Canada closes borders to most foreign nationals to combat Coronavirus

Trudeau ridiculed Trump when he closed our borders to China travel. The shoe is now on the other foot since Trudeau's wife has the virus.

At the time in January, he said, “There is no place for discrimination driven by fear or misinformation. This not something Canadians will ever stand for.” Trudeau also made a point of being photographed eating at a Chinese restaurant, in an apparent effort to demonstrate solidarity.

Lake Worth (Beach) Commission Meeting Tonight

The Lake Worth Beach City Commission is meeting tonight at City Hall.

LAKE WORTH BEACH — "A power struggle inside Lake Worth Beach City Hall sparked by the coronavirus crisis appears headed for a showdown tonight.

The five-member city commission is expected to vote on a resolution seeking to “reaffirm” emergency powers bestowed on the mayor and city manager during a declared emergency.

After previously being canceled, Thursday’s meeting was rescheduled, in part, at the prodding of Commissioner Omari Hardy, who has urged the board to discuss what he said are “broad powers” granted without sufficient oversight to City Manager Michael Bornstein." [Palm Beach Post]

We will be able to watch it live online tonight beginning at 6pm.

Philadelphia Police to Stop Arresting Criminals for Drugs, Theft, Prostitution Over Coronavirus

It is a good time to be a sex worker, pimp, and/or drug dealer in Philadelphia. It’s like “The Purge” in the City of Brotherly Love, apparently – anything goes while Coronavirus hysteria continues to slam the nation.

"The Fraternal Order of Police issued a statement supporting the decision, which covers all narcotics offenses, thefts, burglary, vandalism, prostitution, stolen cars, economic crimes, such as bad checks and fraud, and any existing bench warrants."

EB-5 Visa Program - U.S. is NOT for sale

Senators mulling immigration increases in emergency spending bills. Tell your Senators to OPPOSE!

Friends, Our Capitol Hill team is learning of some troubling news. There are a handful of Senators, along with some in the White House, who are looking to slip an INCREASE of legal immigration into the emergency spending bills currently being drafted to deal with the coronavirus outbreak.

The provision being discussed would increase the number of EB-5 visas from 10,000 to 75,000. The EB-5 visa program provides foreign nationals with a green card in return for an investment in an American business that leads to the creation of at least 10 jobs for American workers. Currently, investors have to invest at least $900,000, but the provision could reduce that amount to $450,000.

Quite simply, the EB-5 visa program is the selling of U.S. citizenship. It's ridiculous to think that while Americans are concerned about their jobs and their health, that some Senators are looking for ways to benefit foreign nationals instead. Please call your two U.S. Senators and urge them to oppose any efforts to slip an EB-5 increase into the economic stimulus package. Congress should not be burying bad immigration policy into emergency bills.

Primary results in Lake Worth (Beach)

LANDSLIDE for the developers in Lake Worth and big win for the County...no surprise. Only 17 out of 20 precincts (unless 3 were eliminated for this election) on the Supervisor of Elections website, but an overwhelming support for the City that just can't manage a thing. You got the emotional plea for the Gulfstream Hotel by developers backed by the City...Watch our beach go next.

"Residents approved a change to the city charter that will allow for leases of up to 30 years on city-owned property east of A1A. That’s expected to give the city a better shot at landing a public-private partnership to develop a “resort-style” pool facility or “aquatic center” at the Lake Worth Casino complex and provide the long-term commitment necessary to finance improvements at the popular Benny’s On The Beach at the foot of the Lake Worth Pier." Coronavirus Update from Cpt Baer with PBSO

Greetings,

Here are some updates on the Coronavirus Pandemic that pertain to law enforcement activity in Lake Worth Beach:

•    The Town of Palm Beach enacted a curfew – There is no curfew in Lake Worth Beach or anywhere else in Palm Beach County

•    Our dispatchers will be asking additional questions to determine if persons at that location are exhibiting flu-like symptoms – when possible we will meet callers outside their residence

•    Expiring DL/ ID cards will be extended through April 30th

•    Citizens can receive an emailed copy of police reports by contacting our central records at emailcentralrecords@pbso.org

In patrolling the city yesterday I saw many people out and about - not participating in social distancing. This is key to slowing/ stopping the spread of the virus and returning to normal life. Please help us help you by limiting your activities to those that are absolutely necessary. Look out for your neighbors, particularly those that are elderly or have compromising health issues.

Be safe and be a good neighbor,

Captain Todd Baer

President gives Waiver to Truckers

Trump suspends 1938 road law, gives truckers green light to move emergency supplies

All along America's highways, trucks hauling vital relief supplies are cutting through red tape, thanks to President Donald Trump.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on Friday announced that a 1938 law regulating the hours of service for truck drivers was being waived on a national basis to battle the Coronavirus. The agency said this was first time the rule had ever been waived throughout the country.{WND]

Omari Hardy has hissy fit

Well, Commissioner Hardy is a lame duck commissioner. His time is short lived here as he is running for higher office so it is probably easier to take a shot at City Manager Bornstein rather than going through protocol. The city manager is the one who makes the decisions regarding staff.

There are times when Geraldo is actually rational in his assessments but this definitely was not the night.

Today's the Day to Vote

All in all, I received seven (7) mailers from the people who want us to give them 22 more feet at the Gufstream property. They really want this property--badly as they are willing to spend all this money to convince you. Don't give it to them.

They can build to 65 feet in height and still have a wonderful, viable commercial property. I say commercial because there is no guarantee that a hotel will ever be built there...no matter what they tell us or how they try to convince us.

They are telling us that they want us to vote "yes" to SAVE The Gulfstream Hotel. This is a 100% dishonest message.

Timeline of Cornonavirus and Democrat Impeachment of the President

SHARED FROM BREITBART

We now know the cost of impeachment.

While Democrats were diverting the attention and energy of the entire country into a pointless trial that could not possibly have ended in anything other than President Donald Trump’s acquittal, the Coronavirus pandemic was beginning in China and arriving in the United States.

The timeline of the two developments — impeachment and Coronavirus — is shocking, and reveals the true cost of hyper-partisanship.
  • January 11: Chinese state media report the first known death from an illness originating in the Wuhan market.
  • January 15: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) holds a vote to send articles of impeachment to the Senate. Pelosi and House Democrats celebrate the “solemn” occasion with a signing ceremony, using commemorative pens.
  • January 21: The first person with Coronavirus arrives in the United States from China, where he had been in Wuhan.
  • January 23: The House impeachment managers make their opening arguments for removing President Trump.
  • January 23: China closes off the city of Wuhan completely to slow the spread of Coronavirus to the rest of China.
  • January 30: Senators begin asking two days of questions of both sides in the president’s impeachment trial.
  • January 30: The World Health Organization declares a global health emergency as Coronavirus continues to spread.
  • January 31: The Senate holds a vote on whether to allow further witnesses and documents in the impeachment trial.
  • January 31: President Trump declares a national health emergency and imposes a ban on travel to and from China. Former Vice President Joe Biden calls Trump’s decision “hysterical xenophobia … and fear-mongering.”
  • February 2: The first death from Coronavirus outside China is reported in the Philippines.
  • February 3: House impeachment managers begin closing arguments, calling Trump a threat to national security.
  • February 4: President Trump talks about Coronavirus in his State of the Union address; Pelosi rips up every page.
  • February 5: The Senate votes to acquit President Trump on both articles of impeachment, 52-48 and 53-47.
  • February 5: House Democrats finally take up Coronavirus in the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia.
For twenty days, from the day the first death from Coronavirus was known, Democrats did nothing about it. They were too busy with the president’s impeachment trial — a trial Pelosi had delayed unnecessarily for several weeks.

To the extent that they commented on Coronavirus at all, it was only to tear up the president’s remarks or to call him a racist. They told the nation that he, not coronavirus, was a threat to the national security of the United States.

In the midst of that all-consuming trial, it is remarkable Trump was able to do anything else at all. But he did, and one of the things he did was impose the China travel ban, just one day after the World Health Organization declared Coronavirus a global health emergency, and the day before the first victim of the pandemic died outside China.
For his trouble, he was criticized by the World Health Organization and called “hysterical” by his future 2020 rival.

When Republicans warned Democrats that impeachment was a waste of time, a divisive partisan exercise, and a distraction from the real issues facing the country — a lesson Republicans learned the hard way, in Bill Clinton’s impeachment, 21 years before — Democrats ignored them.

Just a few weeks later, our divided leaders were taken by surprise by the pandemic, and bickered on cable news, asking why nothing was done sooner.
But we know why.

Biden/Bernie Debate

Biden will choose a woman as his running mate if he wins the nomination. Stacy Abrams is my first guess. He also said he would choose the first Black woman to the Court.

Actually, Joe Biden sounded rational last night--first time in a long time even if he and Bernie slammed the President. That's just politics.

Quotes of the Day - Jim Acosta and President Trump

“What do you say to Americans who are concerned that you’re not taking this seriously enough? And that some of your statements don’t match what your health experts are saying.”

~ Jim Acosta, CNN News

Trump responded with four simple words.
“That’s CNN, fake news.”
