Hudson Holdings Letter to the Mayor

Comment Up

To read the 16 page letter in its entirety, Click here.

The letter was hand-delivered to City Hall sometime on Monday and opened by the Mayor's secretary.  Pam Triolo's secretary had every intention of going over her mail with her on Tuesday but it never happened. I was told that the mayor had not yet seen the letter by Tuesday night's special meeting and therefore was unaware of Hudson's intent.  Silvina did say that it was also e-mailed to the Mayor and that Michael Bornstein had an original of the same letter hand-delivered to him on Monday.

As this was an extremely IMPORTANT letter, it is difficult to understand why this letter was not transmitted quickly to the recipients and leaves one to wonder if they already knew the contents.

Hudson Holdings plans on taking advantage of a law enacted in 2013 on public/private partnerships.

The Five Year Plan - Michael Bornstein

Comment Up
Michael Bornstein was hired on April 16, 2012.
When he arrived he stated that he had a 5 year plan to "save" the city. We were all very much aware that we had big problems with slum, blight and crime and assumed he meant that as well as helping Scott Maxwell with his goals of development.
He has been here now for 3.5 years.
How is he doing?

Heavy hitters
Former commissioner John Szerdi, Blake Macdiarmid, Steven Michael

Well we know who Szerdi and Michael are but do you know who Blake Macdiarmid is?

When a political consultant in 2013 sued Palm Beach County Court Judge Marni Bryson for non-payment, Bryson's attorney claimed it was a shakedown without any merit. Macdiarmid was married to Judge Bryson at that time. He met her when he was her campaign consultant in 2010 while he was still married to Dorothy. Bryson and Macdiarmid married in 2013. In 2014, Judge Bryson divorced him for "cheating on her." Source:  Jose Lambiet

MacDiarmid served as lead consultant for the successful passage of a $24 million parks and community ballot referendum, was chief strategist with the City of Fort Lauderdale to pass a critical $40 million public safety ballot issue, and has also worked as a strategist with Lynn University, the Republican Party, Florida on the Move and business and neighborhood advocacy groups. Source: Old faithful Ins

In March 2014, Scott Maxwell paid MacDiarmid $3,000 for campaign services and consulting. He also helped mayor Pam Triolo in her campaign.

So, Hudson Holdings has brought in the heavy hitter. This would not be happening without the cooperation of some big wigs in the city.

Quote of the Day - Obama

Comment Up

During this debate the word "clown" has been tossed about by Trump.  Well, we already have our very own elected one now giving the world a lecture. Christians are not the ones going around beheading people and raping children. The flavor of the day is ISIS and Muslim radical extremists who are hell bent on conquering the world. Obama continues to miss the big picture.

“Violent extremism is not unique to any one faith, so no one should ever be profiled or targeted simply because of their faith."

~ Obama
Obama said this yesterday as he chaired the U.N. Leaders’ Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism.

Risk Management Renewal for Lake Worth

Comment Up

City staff gets a lot of help from outside consultants...this is just one more example of contracting with experts:

They need additional risk management consultant services including, without limitation, acting as the City’s liaison with the City’s third party administrators for claims, developing claims and insurance budget for each fiscal year and providing claims analysis for City staff.

Up for renewal tonight is the contract with Ben Few & Company, Inc. (“Ben Few & Company”) for full-time Risk Management Consulting Services in the amount of $60,000 leaving a balance of $40,000 in our HR Risk Management Budget 2016.

Quote of the Day - Bill Ayers

“I think labels are weak and lazy, and they don’t capture the complexity of what it means to be a First Amendment fundamentalist that is also a socialist, anarchist and communist. But I am all of those things.”

 ~ Bill Ayers

Self described communist revolutionary who was behind the bombing of public buildings (including police stations, the U.S. Capitol Building, and the Pentagon), during the 1960s and 1970s in response to U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. He was a part of the SDS, a radical socialist educational organization and the militant underground Weathermen organization behind bombings, jailbreaks and riots. Now he is taking credit for the election of Obama.

Lake Worth Pool and the Survey

Comment Up

Sometime during the Summer, the city of Lake Worth had a Survey on-line regarding our Olympic Pool.  I did not take it as I felt the questions were slanted towards a certain result--that of closing it as well as the City collecting names in support of their desires. At the time, Hudson Holdings was putting on a full-court press to get their hands on it and the feeling was that the city was being compatible towards their goal.

Now the results are in according to article at the Palm Beach Post.

One of the glaring errors in this article is the statement "Built in the 1920s, one of the biggest complaints from residents is that the pool is old and outdated, a gripe Ruiz does not dispute." Well, Juan, the original pool, which was saltwater, was built in the 1920's. This pool, the exact same pool and engineering that Lake Lytal has, was built around 1971 and it is a fresh water pool and it is a special amenity in Lake Worth.

If anyone has a gripe about our pool, it is not the implication by the Post or Leisure Services Director that it is not doing well because it is 1) old and 2) that it's on the ocean and the pool competes for swimmers. Both those reasons are ridiculous, and false opinion.

The pool bathrooms and locker rooms were not in the upgrade and definitely need to be redone. Other than that, people want our pool, want it opened longer and at night and do not want developers messing around with it or anyone else for that matter.

If there is anything wrong with our pool, it is management that does not market it.

Quote of the Day - Paul Kengor

“From a purely marketing standpoint, one would think that corporate America might be concerned about offending traditional Christians. But I don’t think that’s so. Christians aren’t relentless and brutal like the liberal forces of ‘tolerance’ and ‘diversity’ who boycott, picket, protest, demonize, dehumanize, fine and even incarcerate those who dare to disagree with their new definitions of marriage, family and sexuality. So corporations are happy to outrage Christians. They won’t dare outrage the forces of ‘tolerance’ and ‘diversity'.”

According to CNN, the partial lunar eclipse, will begin at 8 p.m. ET in the United States. As the planet's shadow dims the supermoon, this will create dramatic viewing opportunities for observers. The eclipse will reach its peak during the 10 o'clock hour, giving the supermoon a reddish, copper-like hue. The event should end after midnight.

Only Communists and Socialists act like Obama

What in the hell is going on in our country? It is no wonder that Republicans are fed up and fed up as well with liberal Republicans.

"Six national security agencies warned against releasing an extremely dangerous terrorist from GITMO but Obama circumvented them and ignored their recommendations.

Normally, these agencies must sign off on letting a detainee go. They also insist that their home country have security in place to monitor the detainee. Obama ignored them and had his own special committee appointed who then let him go. They overruled the six intelligence agencies. The White House is playing nasty, dangerous politics.

As the Pope’s plane landed outside D.C., the White House announced the release. All but Fox ignored it or didn’t notice it. It is, however, an extremely important story because Barack Obama has succeeded in completely politicizing the Department of Defense."

The Homeless in Lake Worth

Comment Up

To the Lake Worth Commission:

Even though Lake Worth has good intentions, for the most part, by making Ordinances such as  having rate parity with FPL, they don't always think them through.

Lake Worth will never get an ordinance criminalizing Homelessness, would they?  I have never heard that we get any money from the federal government but if we do, this is just another reason to keep your heads in the sand on this issue and keep you from solving it!  Click here...

Lee Antieau, 97 years young

Comment Up

Last night we celebrated Lee Antieau's 97th birthday. It was a surprise by her husband, Gary. Lee reminded us that she was still 96 until Monday. Gosh, wouldn't you like to know her secret? Well, I asked. She eats healthy foods, plays at the arcade twice a week and luckily does not take one medicine. So you see, it's the damn medicine. I can blame it all on my doctor. :)

Bomb Boy gave us a Message

Gavin McInnis, Rebel Media#IStandWithAhmed: “The whole family is stupid and they duped us”:
“Al-Taqiyya” is the art of using lies and deception to promote Islam. Here in the West, we are so petrified of offending Muslims, all they have to do is sort of pretend that someone may have slighted them and we all drop to our knees and start apologizing.

This kid was not making a clock and innocently taking it to school. He was committing a crime by deliberately taking a device to school that looked like a bomb. The entire world fell for it including the president of the United States. All they did was pull the guts out of an old alarm clock and throw it in a pencil box. It’s the farthest thing from a homemade clock (and not that far from a bomb).

The more we cower in fear, the more powerful Islam gets. Islamophobia isn’t a scourge on Western culture. It’s a fake tool used by our enemies to overpower us. We need to stop being afraid of it and accept that being suspicious is part of war.”

Quote of the Day - Ted Cruz

“If you vote for Hillary, you are voting for Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon. If you vote for me, under no circumstances will a theocratic country led by an ayatollah that chats death to America, will Iran be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

And if the ayatollah doesn’t understand that, we may have to introduce him to the 72 virgins.”

Commissioner Scott Maxwell - It was about 76 cents a month, Commissioner

Comment Up

It was all about raising electric rates 76 cents a month or go in the hole.  What did this commission majority do?

On Tuesday night when this commission was voting on the most important vote for the entire year (a budget of $179,420,309 of your money), Commissioner McVoy introduced some information that NEVER was given to the dais until that day on the electric utility.  There was no explanation from the city manager, Michael Bornstein, as to why it was withheld. In spite of the new information to build up reserves rather than raiding them, Triolo, Maxwell and Amoroso voted to dip into our savings rather than raise electric rates by an average of 76 CENTS A MONTH.

Instead Maxwell didn't even want the information included in the record because McVoy had written on the screenshots in a red marking and added a brief explanation on each scenario. Mayior Triolo was only concerned that they had made a law three years ago for rate parity with FPL and Amoroso's contribution was to call a Point of Order when he didn't like McVoy's "criticism." Not one of the three were going to divert from this hot political potato.

Following are the three Burton & Associates reports.  You can see that the important content is the same. Maxwell, so used to being a bully on the dais, came up with a silly reason not to include Commissioner McVoy's important information in the public record.

RATE PLAN OPTION 1: 1% increases to rates for FY 2017 - 2019
Achieves 3-month reserve target by FY 2020

RATE PLAN OPTION 2: 1% increases to rates for FY 2016 - 2018

RATE PLAN OPTION 3: 2% increases to rates for FY 2016 - 2017
Achieves 3-month reserve target by FY 2018

This is worth showing again- With the three commissioners, Maxwell, Triolo and Amoroso voting  down the increase, puts us in the hole by $1.276 million. As they talked about the budget as being a "living document" with changes to numbers throughout this budget process and we are supposed to accept that as normal, what do they care, right? It's not their money but it is about their re-election.

Maybe we won't lose just $1.276 million--maybe it will be more...What we do know with this bunch, it's hard to save for a rainy day when three commissioners want to play politics.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz - The Washington Witch

Comment Up

Debbie just keeps on doing it and as I continue to say, Democrats do it best...vicious, lying and insane attacks against Republicans not to mention their policy decisions as a whole. And the really sad part is that their followers believe the insanity. This time she went after Marco Rubio. The Democrats must be deathly afraid of this bright young man who in my opinion is the best of the bunch who thoroughly understands what this country faces and how to solve it.

She has gone off the deep end and I am happy to say that I have changed my political party after 40 years and am now a registered Republican.  Thanks Debbie; you got me to act.

Pope Francis and Obama worlds apart on Christian Doctrine

Gee, we wonder why...

On religious liberty, however, Pope Francis‘ words — delivered in English — amounted to a mild lecture to the president and put in perspective how the pontiff and the president, despite their many areas of agreement, still seem worlds apart on major issues of church doctrine.

New York Times says--
  • Today is a two-city day for Pope Francis. This morning he addresses a joint meeting of Congress — he is the first pope to do so — and has lunch with Washington’s homeless.
  • Then it’s off to New York to attend evening vespers at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

The way I see it, radical Muslims all over the world need to be deadly afraid after viewing the reception that Pope Francis has had in the United States, their biggest enemy.

10:58--just listened to the Pope's speech.  There was something for each political Party to agree with and other things to think about.  It was respectful and controversial subjects were spoken with delicate resolve that only a Pope could do. I do not agree with him on everything and disagree with him on immigration or even his suggestion of open borders. We are a land of laws. I am rather astounded that there are some who are treating him as if he was God him/herself.

"We borrowed at least $6 million to construct that casino building and a large portion of that came out of the Water Fund. And on top of that, we borrowed untold numbers of dollars for the infrastructure on the beachfront property.

So, not only do we continue to find ways to keep things solvent and stable, we found millions of dollars to throw at a beach project..."

~ Scott Maxwell

Vice Mayor, we did NOT borrow untold numbers (2 million) for the infrastructure at the beach.  This was money in the CIP.  You are running for re-election and really need to get up to par. We set aside money and use it for capital projects just like you want to do at the Park of Commerce.  The difference in using money from the Capital Improvement Fund on the beach vs the POC is, we OWN THE BEACH PROPERTY unlike property at the POC that you want to pour money into in the amount of $8,700,000 according to the final budget you just approved in order to attract developers.

Talk about irresponsible government.
