Stephen Richer, the Maricopa County Recorder, faces scrutiny for his politically charged comments made during a deposition, sparking debates about his impartiality in overseeing elections involving Kari Lake.Richer, tasked with overseeing ballots in Arizona's largest county, was revealed in a court deposition to have expressed a desire to run for Senate with the explicit intent of making "life hell" for the Republican candidate Kari Lake, as the Daily Mail reports.
These remarks, contained in a deposition transcript from June 21, have ignited controversy regarding Richer's role in the electoral process.
Richer, who described himself as "anti-MAGA," has been a critical figure in the management of elections in Maricopa County.
The transcripts were disclosed as part of a defamation lawsuit filed by Richer against Lake, set to be submitted on a Friday.
