Following the Cuban Revolution, Che Guevara performed a number of key roles in the new government. These included reviewing the appeals and firing squads for those convicted as war criminals during the revolutionary tribunals. Wikipedia
Michael Dotten said, "A million and a half fled to the United States to escape the instruments of Che Guevara’s repression, many across the Florida Straits where the odds of survival are no better than two out of three. Others resisted at home, especially during the 1960s, the decade of global rebellion." My extended family escaped from Cuba as did many Cubans.
Now we have a new generation of Cuban Americans who have forgotten. Marco Rubio is right about Cuba. Obama is flat wrong and has let our country down, our principles down and has no concept of right and wrong, evil or good.
Obama is at a baseball game in Communist Havana, Cuba while Belgium was attacked by ISIS with eleven Americans severely injured.
This should go down as the Photo of the Year.
Vote Trump, he won't p@$$y out to the rest of the world.
ReplyDeleteI think President Obama should be applauded for being a peacemaker with the Cubans. God bless them and all of us. Thank you President Obama for all you are doing for our country and world. You really are a peacemaker.
ReplyDeleteBlessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Matthew 5:9 is part of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount in which He says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God." The Greek word translated "peacemaker" is used in only one other place in the New Testament, in a slightly different form. Colossians 1:20 says, "For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross."
Jesus laid down His life to make peace between God and sinners, and when we can carry that message of peace to others, we are peacemakers. God delights in those who reconcile others to Himself—those who bring the gospel are “beautiful” (Isaiah 52:7). God “reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18). Those who bring reconciliation to broken relationships are carrying on the work of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Those who give of themselves as Jesus did in order that others may know God are called "blessed." There is no real peace apart from a relationship with God (Romans 5:1). What may masquerade as worldly peace is merely a temporary lull in chaos (John 14:27). True peace is found only in a restored relationship with God. “‘There is no peace,’ says the LORD, ‘for the wicked’” (Isaiah 48:22).
I stand with anon 7:43! God bless the peacemakers and God bless President Obama for bridging the m gulf with Cuba after over 50 years of stagnant and failed attempt at regime change. More can be done to bring democracy to the Cuban people thur our normalization of relations, letting families be rejoined, tourism, and trade than keeping the embargo. When the Cuban people see all they have missed out on, they will demand the change. It's just a matter of time for the Castros to be out of there.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, Cubans will not obtain democracy. This is a communist regime and constantly violates civil rights of its citizens.
ReplyDeleteFrom the 2016 World Report:
The Cuban government continues to repress dissent and discourage public criticism. While in recent years it has relied less on long-term prison sentences to punish its critics, short-term arbitrary arrests of human rights defenders, independent journalists, and other critics have increased dramatically. Other repressive tactics employed by the government include beatings, public acts of shaming, and the termination of employment.
Obama has a hell of a nerve even being there.
And President Obama has shown himself, once again, to be a Muslim, allied with all their brutality, and unwilling to call ISIS' acts Islamic terror.
ReplyDeleteAs he sits with a brutal communist dictator watching a baseball game, the world burns around him and he can come up with only 51 seconds of meaningless platitudes and no plans or solutions to keep us safe from the next terrorist attack.
Peace is wonderful as are peacemakers but thank God we have only 9 more months to live under this man who puts America second to Muslim world domination.
Almost all of his administrative appointments are Muslim.
Will Congress declare war on ISIS and step up attacks on their oil and infrastructure? Obama certainly has shown he is unwilling.
Simon--thanks for the intellectual comment.
ReplyDeleteWhere can I find the religious identification of 'Almost all of his administration appointments'?
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see that
I don't know but you might find this interesting-
