WPTV Channel 5 on last night's Lake Worth meeting

Comment Up

See WPTV's video from last night.

If truth be known, and that's what we all want, right?...no one has ever suggested that a developer was going to build a hotel or condos on the beach. If Mr. Bornstein heard that, then it's a new one on me. And to the local newspaper editor, no resident has lied about anything when it comes to the city wanting to screw up our beach.

The city initiated this secret ITN process that went on for nearly ten months and last night we got to hear one-half hour presentations from the two presenters--Hudson Holdings and Oceanside Bar & Grill on what they would like to do on our beach. Hudson Holdings scaled down its plan from building 65,000 square feet to 22,000 square feet and still not too many residents were thrilled. Residents got to speak for two minutes with the mayor insisting that we pose questions to the presenters rather than making statements.  It was like pulling teeth in the beginning.

  1. the problem is mismanagement (gang of 3 and Bornstein)
a faulty budget rigged to show failure (wtf, how can the pool NOT be over budget if it is not even IN the budget?)
and both the PUBLIC beach and our pool belong to the citizens, not Bornstein, and are a great tourist draw.

  3. There are lots of folks who prefer pool over beach, there are certainly tourist families who split up when they come to the beach, half opting for the pool and the other for the beach, which is one of the reasons our pool is so great (its AT the beach).

Is it a tourist draw, probably not, b/c no one knows its there and the City tries to hide it.

  4. Good, don't vote for pam, andy, and scott again, I doubt I will and I want them to fire the cm! We need to keep our beach and pool the way it is now.

  7. Ah, but is IS an Olympic size pool. In this country, an Olympic pool is 50 meters in length and 25 yards in width. The regulation on the ends of the length changed several years ago from 3.5 feet (which we have) to around 4 feet.
Our meets have always been on th4e width.
