I enjoy art. I also like our Shuffleboard Court Building. It used to be ours until we leased it to the CRA for a buck. Instead of bringing up this neighborhood, (and the CRA has tried hard to do that with the Lofts) it seems that just the opposite has occurred with this latest action. This looks like colorful graffiti to me. It's west of the railroad tracks so who really cares, right?
The 'squirt' on the 8 ball looks like it's above a pink butt crack!
ReplyDeleteI must say it far exceeds the wicked Bohemian Grove Owl (dark and foreboding - OK for Art but not my spoken word...art!) on the building across from the post office! Cremation of Care gone local - and no one gets it....so sad!
i think it looks great! look all over wynwood, design district, delray, and downtown west palm......this is art not graffiti! With the way downtown is looking these days i don't see how anyone can object to sprucing up buildings.....different strokes for different folks i guess
ReplyDeleteIt looks just dreadful, like crap. I am sure those living around that neighborhood will love it just fine, gangs and all. The rest of us will think we're in mexico or some dump. Sorry. that's the truth. Did the commission Approve of this?
ReplyDeleteWTF?! Who approved this gang-banger ghetto crap? Why in the hell does this commission continue to think it's OK to rape everything west of the tracks? Would this ugly third world nastiness be allowed ANYWHERE in College Park or South Palm neighborhoods?? No way ! And Weetha is right- painting a butt crack is going to help our youth? Mike Bornstein, what the hell did you approve?
ReplyDeleteTrue story-a property owner nearby saw this and reported it to the PBSO graffiti unit! You can't make this $hit up ! Only in Lake Worthless,LMAO .
ReplyDeleteHave any of you ever actually left the confines of lake worth and visited other cities in florida?? This art is everywhere these days, lots of people love it! You are all coming across as crotchety old people by trying to play "taste police" here. If it's good enough for miami, laudy, delray, and west palm then it's probanly good enough for lil old lake worth no??
ReplyDeleteArt is subjective. This, to me, is NOT art.
ReplyDeletewhy didn't this have to go for approval before a board or the commission? When will the CRA start paying the utility bill? Why must the city pick up this bill?
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the colorful application of color. However, the city should reopen the courts and this city property should be utilized by city residents.
ReplyDeleteI am so very proud of the hard work of 50 or 60 people who helped make an eyesore building into a work of art. It is only fitting that the building's exterior reflect what is going on inside. Kudos to all that participated in the design and implementation. Look GREAT!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat's going on inside? Graffiti?
ReplyDeleteTo you I'm sure it all looks like graffiti.
ReplyDeleteI looked inside the building window while I was there and it appeared to be in the process of being painted in a soft beige. it also looked as if walls have been erected.
ReplyDeleteIt does look like graffiti and the rest sort of reminds me of a circus or something. :>)
slippery slope we are on here.....i saw your post above about bamboo room opening.....what if people objected to that because they didn't like the kind of music that was going to be played there.....see my point?
ReplyDeleteNope--don't see your point at all.
ReplyDeleteWe have to drive by and actually SEE the "art on our shuffleboard court building.
At the Bamboo room, if you hate jazz (and I don't like it that much), you don't have to enter and listen to it.
It's a blues club, not jazz.
ReplyDeleteThis bldg looks like crap. Who approved this ? 50 or 60 people putting what amounts to nothing but graffiti on walls does not make it art. It looks like $hit. Lake Worth is desperately trying to improve it's image.NO ONE with any money is going to come near this eye sore. Again, who approved this crap ?
ReplyDeleteif they gave it some thought the buildings could of taken on a Banksy
ReplyDeletelook. not sesame street
You can throw a piece of dog poop on a wall and some people will call it a magnificent slice of art representing the human condition. It's still a piece of dog poop on a wall.
ReplyDeleteOMG I drove by to see what the fuss was all about. This is disgusting. Bring on the clowns.
