The Hole in the Wall

Comment Up

There is FINALLY a code case started on this.  How long has this hole in the wall been there at Lake and J Streets?  Answer:  Months. City staff walks by, CRA walks by and the Sheriff drives by. It is inexcusable that a resident has to file a complaint.

And for some trivia--on February 20, 2013, the owners of this building gave the political action committee, The Friends of the Gulfstream that was fighting against the referendum to keep Lake Worth a low-rise downtown, a $300.00 donation to help defeat the heights amendment. He lost his $300 bucks and they lost the election.

  1. That's probably the trend that the anonymous poster made on a different article. Follow the money and know the players.

  3. "There is FINALLY a code case started on this." That is probably because someone FINALLY called it in instead of taking a picture of it and bitching about it to all of us who can't do anything about it.

If you called it in, THANK YOU from the bottom of all our hearts.

As far as the owner not fixing it until being forced to, that is also inexcusable. But that's just how some people are. They won't spend a nickle unless they are forced.

Many of us contributed to the Friend's PAC. We did so knowing it was to promote Lake Worth Hotel District where building heights could match what is already there and has been since 1925. And even then, that height would have been reserved for a hotel and ONLY a hotel of 50 rooms.

I'm not a sore loser. Why are you such a sore winner?

  4. Thanks to this blog and the pursuit, there is a code case on the building at Lake and J. We are here to draw attention to the problems that take AWAY from our city and the downtown. They need to be cleaned up--the slum, the blight, the graffiti and the panhandlers must go!

The Referendum had NOTHING TO DO WITH A HOTEL DISTRICT. Can you get that? You guys invented a reason to go against the amendment. You nearly succeeded with your trumped up lies. Way to go.

  5. Lynn - good job, I'm glad to hear that a case has finally been opened, now let's see what happens and if this property gets fixed, incurs fines, etc.

As for the hotel district, that's a bunch of baloney. The height amendment related to properties up to 2nd ave, north, into a historic neighborhood and south to 2nd ace. so., another residential area. We don't want tall buildings/hotel or condos in our historic neighborhood. Its a shame that our elected officials have ignored the will of the people.
