The League of Cities -Top Dog

Comment Up

The purpose of the Palm Beach County League of Cities, Inc., is to promote and advance the collective interest of the municipalities of Palm Beach County, Florida; to study municipal issues and seek desired results through cooperative effort; to respect the principles of Home Rule; to encourage and enhance the quality of life of the citizens of Palm Beach County; and/or to engage in any other lawful purpose not for pecuniary profit.

Now you notice where it says, "promote the collective interest of the municipalities"--not the citizens but the city governments.  That's what it's all about. The citizens are unimportant excepting for their tax dollars. Screw them and what they believe or want. They have no clue nor do they know what they are talking about, right? Essentially, that is how most elected officials end up believing--they are God and we are mortal subjects and they will do what it takes to get their way.

The League consists of all 38 municipalities in Palm Beach County, as well as over 70 Associate members.  The Board of Directors, installed each May, is made up of 18 city officials: four executive officers, one representative from each of the League's five districts, six representatives from the largest municipalities, two at-large seats, and the Immediate Past President, if in office.  Past Presidents still in office serve ex-officio.

Scott Maxwell, who has no time to return phone calls or e-mails other than to his chosen few as a commissioner in Lake Worth,  has found the time to devote to the League of Cities. With his autocratic manner and sometimes authoritarian way, Maxwell has politicked his way up to the top spot--President. You don't get to that position unless you can convince people that you know what in hell you're talking about. Congratulations Scott.

The League backs:

HB537
– Revises & provides for applicability of provisions that  prohibit initiative or referendum process for development orders &  local comp. plan amendments & map amendments. This bill has nothing to do with the recent height referendum that changed our charter even though politicos who are still furious about losing the height election have convinced our city attorney to spend taxpayer dollars to study it all and render an opinion.

SB528
– Authorizes a local government to retain an existing initiative or referendum process relating to a local comprehensive plan amendment or map amendment in certain circumstances.

  1. This guy Maxwell is a real doozy. He uses such foul language when he speaks, ever other word is a swear word, he is very vulgar.

I remember when he was sworn in for this current term he went on a rant about how his main priority was gong to be addressing blight in this city, what a joke, What has he done, it is even worse now. That man stinks, we need to vote him out next term. We can not accept or allow this mediocrity or low class trash running our city any more, we all deserve better than what this man can offer.

Vote out Scott when hi term is over!

  2. "The propriety of a law, in a constitutional light, must always be deteremined by the nature of the powers upon which it is founded."

Scott has proved himself a true servant of the UN plans for US as evidenced by this promotion! You so have to go along to get along!
Funny when 5 states have passed STATE LAWS blocking what he (and others) are promoting...funny huh? NOT - EXTREMELY HARMFUL!

The League of Cities also backed the internet tax (denying states rights) and they believe in REGIONS - anyone have a regional rep? City, county, state and fed but NO REGIONAL REPRESENTATION?
Wassup w/that? Crush the people like grapes and suck every bit of revenue you can from them! Hey LOC - NIMBY!

Is the LOC lawyer still suing to get out of the IG's watchful eye yet? 72% of the people voted for it (2010?) - why don't you, the new president, make them now obey the law or respectfully the will of the people?

Would love to see if there is a swearing in and what is he swearing to do??? Is it in conflict with his city office oath? How can you foia that?

  4. The League of Cities are Much Worse Than You Think. I doubt Scott has the brain cells to imagine or the morals to even care about who he is making deals with. Just take the money, Scott. They like stooges like you.

Emmy-winning reporter and radio host, Shad Olson, investigates the connection between state Municipal Leagues, the National League of Cities and liberal overlord, George Soros. Advancing antigun, antifamily, anticapitalist policies that cost taxpayers millions of dollars, Shad reveals how the National League of Cities is doing the work of the extreme left in the 'bottom-up,' remaking of America.

  6. Everyone needs to go to this site and watch the videos. This is the leading organization against Agenda 21.

This is what is going on. It is not a democratic or republican thing. Its a UN thing, taking over countries and negating their constitutions for the Too Bid To Fail, Too Big to Hold Accountable World Bankster Mafia.

It is a long-term plan that originated at the start of the UN. Its why the Mideast is in ruins and why our country is now unrecognizable.

  7. MB I love you whoever you are!
Not only do you know about Ag 21
but you are not afraid to say it!

The Mayor declared 5.21.13 we can't just look at one side of ANY ISSUE in the city. Research must be exhausted before any action takes place.

    REALLY -

Well I have asked and asked and begged to tell the rest of the story! Now it looks like the Mayor will have to eat her word salad if she lied!

Last chance PAM - Your choice to
"Listen" and act on behalf of ALL the citizens you represent!

  8. If the mayor and any member of the commission is ACTING LIKE A LOBBYIST for another organization, they can go to jail if they don't disclose it, ON THE RIGHT DATE. See the ethics reports that I just mentioned. People have gone to jail for this in the past. These people need to pay attention.
