Parking at the Lake Worth Beach

Comment Up
Mark Sykes, Beach Parking Division Manager

Because parking is a premium at the Lake Worth beach ($2 an hour), there are always people wanting to beat the system. Getting something for nothing is an entitlement that they think they deserve.  Parking for free is their goal and some are abusing the 50 or so decal parking spaces reserved for residents of Lake Worth who have bought a current decal.

Everytime, without exception,  when I have been to the beach, there are several cars that have not displayed a current decal. This one yesterday had an expired decal from 2010.

From the City's web site: Beach Parking Decals are on sale at the Cashier’s office, located at 1900 2nd Avenue North from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $21.30 for year-round residents and $63.90 for seasonal residents (This might have changed for 2013/2014). Decals are valid May 1 through April 30. Decals go on sale the last week of April for the upcoming year but can be purchased at any time of the year during business hours.

  1. Our guests could not find parking yesterday afternoon when they went to the beach for lunch. Drove back into town. I knew this was going to be a problem. We need a parking garage.

  2. The Season is always impossible. We never should have taken 164 spaces from the upper level. Did they find parking in the downtown? Sometimes that is a challenge when there are special events.

  4. The new beach is so great its going to be busy and parking is going to be tight during spring break. Glad to see the City is making money from the parking which will go to paying down the debt from redoing the beach.

We simply walk over or ride our bikes.

  5. I've been there several times for lunch on the weekend, and dinner. Always saw plenty of parking spaces. Was there for lunch last Saturday, and dinner this Saturday. During the rush.
Maybe Sunday was crowded because of the parade. But that's no reason to build a parking garage. I'd rather have the city spend money on amenities that I can enjoy year round, not a parking garage because people can't find a space 3 or 4 days of the year.

  6. At Juno Beach parking is FREE and there is lots of space --- many people going to the beach or fishing on the pier are going to Juno Beach.
