The Commission further stated, " I do NOT want anyone from the public, especially a taxpayer, questioning me on this entitlement expense or giving me a hard F-ing time about it. It's in the freaking budget and we don't have to explain squat to you." And Suzanne, how dare you promote the Lake Worth Street Painting Festival at a sister city, etc., etc., etc.
If the traveler is a City Commissioner or appointed board member, now the City Manager will approve travel, not the Commission. Extra-ordinary travel outside the US will require City Commission approval.
Lynn - During your career, have you ever attended a National Seminar?? If so, if the seminar had 5-7 concurrent sessions, how did you cover all or even half of them?? Also, you are quoting the Commission saying that they used profanity during the meeting. I listened to the meeting and at no time did any Commissioner used profanity. Were you at the same meeting attended by many citizens on Dec. 4th or were you thinking that's what you would have said. Please do not use quotes unless you are correct as to what was said.

ReplyDeleteIn Boston - "Congress of Cities" and the "National League of Cities" (Both NON-Governmental ASSOCIATIONS) had one of the classes about a NEIGHBORHOOD gaining the power of eminent domain. Yeah - just regular un-elected people like say your neighbor gets to decide what happened to 900 properties.

ReplyDeleteI think their point was too many idiot citizens were wasting too much time complaining about travel expenses for some commissioners, while it was o.k. for others because of some pathetic power point presentation.

Spending public money should be open and transparent. Nothing mindless about that, only those who don't believe in transparency.
