Tonight, Jim behaved much better, more respectful, less attacking, and not so hateful or evil, I think he realizes if he wants to win, he needs to be NICE. Wonder if it will work. When Wes ran, he was nice NICE, he was evil and attacking of his opponent and just plain nasty, people saw this and just did not vote for this stinker, Jim realizes that he cannot do that if he wants to win. We will see, Jim wasn't that bad tonight, but I am not convinced he is the right candidate, especially after how he ran his blog and all the mean stuff he spewed. May the best man win for our little city that can!!!!!
I believe Mr.Stafford said we would not rule out selling the electric plant but is open to all options. And if you were listening that is not all he wanted to do.After that debate I realized just how out of touch with the people of Lake Worth as a whole Chris McVoy really is.
While Stafford seemed the overwheling winner of the debate, we are still left with the concern about what he will actually do and accomplish to improve our quality of life.
Don't we have that concern with every new commissioner who comes on board? We just have to trust our instincts and not let all the negative talk get in the way. Mr. Stafford certainly did not come off mean last night, and I for one believe he is concerned about the city. I liked his thoughts on trying to work to better our schools. Something Lake Worth has ignored for too long.
You've got to be kidding, anonymous... another Board in Lake Worth--an educational board? The PB County School Board controls the education here. We can't help it that a lot of our schools are filled with minority kids from homes that don't even know English or where kids get no help from their parents. There is not a thing we can do about it but get teachers who bust their butts everyday trying to teach the impossible. We have lousy schools not because of lousy teaching. Get these kids to learn English.
We should get rid of half the boards we have in this city.
Mr. Stafford finally got into his attack mode last night and was mean by stating that McVoy NEVER returns phone calls or e-mails. He doesn't have first-hand knowledge of this.
I would agree that he is concerned about the city but I would also say that he does not want to listen to the other side of the story. He was not the overwhelming winner of this debate. All he did was talk louder wanting to sell our utility. He did better than the first debate but his plan was to be more aggressive and negative towards McVoy. His fans liked that.
Lynn, there are things that can be done for our schools and other cities are doing it. Ever hear of the Harlem Project. The school board does not have to CONTROL education. Parents and citizens can take control of the future of thier children. Maybe we can't help the fact that there are many minorities in Lake Worth schools but other cities have the same issues and are dealing better with it.I can understand your apprehention toward another board but this one can and should be meaningful. I never heard any disapproval of the sister city board. And this is so much more important.
Yes I do, love Jim
