UPDATE: The segment just ran. Look for it again at 6pm. Andy Amoroso's interview: He said that "I'm not sure that she's going in the right direction," speaking of Susan Stanton. If you are NOT SURE, Commissioner Amoroso, why did you vote to fire her?
WPBF Channel 25 (10 on Comcast cable) TV will be doing a report on the firing of Susan Stanton. Tune in at 5pm.
They were in the downtown today interviewing various people.

You're right, Lynn. It is unbelievable. We just voted out a woman and replaced her with a dunce.
ReplyDeleteK.C.
Andy told the Post she was fired to make way for "new visionaries" in the city. Right. Great Karnaks, the three of them.
ReplyDeleteWith “accomplishments’ like these, shouldn’t we be suing Stanton for overpayments:
ReplyDeleteIn an interview today, Stanton listed several accomplishments, including cutting personnel costs---you mean the firings that were substantially offset by new hires for Stanton’s pet projects & programs-- and pension benefits and renegotiating labor contracts to save the city money.---those would be the ones that Stanton felt we might lose lawsuits on.
She also persuaded the commission to take the controversial step of hiring consultants to produce reports showing how the city could reconstitute its police and fire departments-----which were a total waste of money---, then negotiated a $1.1 million annual reduction in the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office contract and a new contract with Palm Beach County----that was the after PBSO offered a $1,000,000 reduction that Stanton rejected-- Fire Rescue that is expected to save taxpayers $10 million over 10 years.---actually about $2,000,000 over 2 years---the rest was anticipated future negotiations that never occurred---
Stanton said she was proud of Lake Worth Utilities' energy conservation program----that would be the one with a 15 year payback and a minimal reduction in use--, of starting the renovation of the casino building at Lake Worth Beach---the one that is running 30% over Budget----- and of the reverse-osmosis water plant that was dedicated Oct. 29---which depleted the Utility Bond Fund and left it with insufficient money to complete the Electric Utility upgrade.. She cited the creation of a financial budgeting system that looks five years ahead as a major accomplishment.---too bad the latest one left out the CIP so that the Budget Deficits looked smaller.
We didn't over-spend on the water plant.
ReplyDeleteA five year financial plan is pretty good in this economy.
We are not over budget if the city reduces some of the requirements ont eh $5 mil beach redevelopment--like windmills.
She negotiated $1.2 million from the PBSO, not $1 mil. Good going Susan.
If you want to see the CIP in the Budget, go to page 136.
Consultants and their studies are good. Why go off half cocked and spend money when you are clueless?
I give up. Obviously you are looking for fault and not achievement. We can all do that and come up with anything. In this case, it was not good enough to fire her.
Well, the corrupticrats are back. Get ready for them to build condos in the lagoon, strip the city assets, and make this city like the disgusting Boca Raton, and ruin our tourism to make a fast buck.
ReplyDeleteAnd its a shame that the previous "revolutionary" commissioners didn't stand firm on protecting our city, but grandstanded on their own petty projects and their own aggrandizement at the expense of what is right. They failed miserably and we are now back to square one, due to ridiculous brown-white arguments and other stupid causes that don't exist.
Those voting against her have shady records, most importantly, Scott Maxwell on the top of the list.
Are you ready to go down in disgrace, Scott?
The war is on. I'm calling for a demonstration OUTSIDE the City Hall next commission meeting.
First, let me say that I am relieved that the city manager was fired. With that said, I felt like the channel 25 story that aired was very biased .It gave the impression that the majority of citizens wanted Stanton. That could not be further from the truth. Mcvoy,Mulvehill,Golden and then interim Mayor Waterman had become nothing but robots doing Stanton's will.Stanton had declared to more than one person that our city hall was "her house".Stanton was out of control, doing things without the knowledge or consent of the Commission. Shame on the previuos Commission for not calling her on the carpet sooner. When Commissioners like Mulvehill and Mcvoy start doing the will of the city staff and not listening to the citizens that voted them into office, they need to follow Stanton out of town.
ReplyDeleteANDY WAS HONEST,WHEN SAYING, i AM NOT SURE.
ReplyDeleteHE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT SUSAN STANTON 'S IMPLEMENTATION OF CONTROLS IN ALL TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL DEPARTMENTS,(HE HAD NO IDEA HOW FAR) NO TIME RECORDS,PERSONAL USE OF CITY VEHICLES(GASOLINE PAID BY US)PURCHASES AND PROJECTS COSTING CORRUPT UNVERIFIED AMOUNTS, NOT PUT OUT FOR BID.ETC.ETC.SUSAN STANTON ENTERED A RATS NEST,FUMIGATED IT AND SCOTT IS UPSET, FOR NOT HAVING DONE ANYTHING. ALL COMMISSIONS,INCAPABLE OF CREATING REVENUE FOR THE CITY.SCOTT SPENDING MONEY IN ARIZONA,WITHOUT RESULTS ,NO REVENUE PROJECTS.NO NEIGHBORHOOD/CITYHALL IMPROVING COMMUNIVATION METHODS,THE FOOD WAS GOOD, AND THE COCKTAILS BETTER????
CUT TRAVEL BUDGET now, FOR USELESS TRIPS BY DO NOTHING COMMISSION MEMBERS,BE FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE!
THE COMMENTS OF A RABID DIXIE HIGHWAY-WRONG SIDE OF COLLEGE PARK CREATURE,SHOWS THAT IT DOES NOT KNOW,THAT THE FUTURE IS NOT TODAY,BUT 2 YEARS FROM NOW.ARE THOSE THE USUAL RAVINGS OF A RABID ALCOHOLIC, WITH PRIMITVE,RAUNCHY,LOW BROW USUAL, PUBLIC BEHAVIOUR?

ReplyDeleteThe majority of people in your world maybe but that's not the opinion of anyone I have talked to. I would say the odds so far are shock and awe with a backlash against Maxwell.
ReplyDeleteYou don't solve problems by firing them away. You give her direction. On top of everything else, she is the expert on running a city--not politicians. Commissioners need to do their jobs and not take the easy way out all of the time. Both sides of politics are wrong in this case--one agreeing with her on everything and now this new commission that took the extreme by terminating her. I have ZERO respect for the latter.
To the poster who just tried to come over here with a damaging and inflammatory personal attack on Stanton and her reputation, please support that sort of thing by 1) posting with your real name that is verifiable and 2) the facts wtih links or testimony.
ReplyDeleteLynn,
ReplyDeleteWhen you said both sides of politics are wrong on this one, you may have come close to the point. One side blindly went with the CM. The rest of us who sat in wonderment at how only one person on the commission EVER questioned what she did, where the numbers came from and how she was moving funds from one account to another could only show our frustration at the polls.
She fired 70, ran another bunch of well respected, dedicated department heads off to secure her own heavy handed style of governing.
The commission put her through considerably less than what she put MANY of her employees through.
Lynn, you are the one who reminds everyone that the City Manager runs the city. The Commission sets policy. IF they disapprove of her way of running the city, they have limited options. They simply took one of those limited options.
I am still amused at the "surprise". Even SS knew her time was limited and stated it in almost every meeting.
Finally...... WE The People counted to 3!
