Softball to a Soccer field

Comment Up
Lake Worth spending money converting softball field to a soccer field.

According to Wikipedia: Soccer, known in many other countries as "football" is somewhat less popular in The United States than the traditional major sports, although it has gained an increasing following in recent years, and is extremely popular as a children's sport.

  1. We keep spending money for the illegals. That is standard here. However, we can't have shuffleboard for the Americans. No siree, Roberto.

  2. Wow $60,000.00 from the CIP (Captial Improvement Funds for those who may not know....

Should we have CIP Funds when we can't pay our basic necessities now? Think about it....We are broke, broke, broke which is all the CM and Commission keeps claiming, we have laid off employee's but yet we can shell out 60 grand for Capital Improvements? Does that make any sense or sound judgement to anyone?

Its like managing my home....I have to pay the utilities but maybe I want to remodel my bathroom instead...its a capital improvement but I'm sure the city will leave my lights on...

    What a joke!

  3. This year, $25,923,439 (MILLIONS) are earmarked to spend from the CIP. When I ask the Commission to look to stop unnecessary CIP expenditures, I get a blank stare.

  4. Spending this money on another grant writer would be much more appropriate and certainly more important right now.

  5. It was my impression that the mayor campaigned on the fact that her expetise was grant writing, and that she would be working on that as soon as she was elected. How is that woking out. I guess she is just too busy with not having a job and all this budget stuff going on. Uninformed Lake Worth voters will believe just about anything.

  6. The mayor did not campaign on the fact that she was a grant writer. That is giving some false impression of what she said. She is, by profession, a grant writer. That was part of her resume as Lisa Maxwell mentioning her background and expertise in development.

So, she is doing the job for which she was elected and for the most part, she is doing it well.

  7. Lynn, your right on the last post however saying that she is doing a pretty good job is a long shot especially after her votes on the hot topics have already been the "wrong" vote even in your own blog.

She should have voted against the Assessments and let the others go down with the ship as an obvious strategy but she did not. I know that you like her but in reality actions speak louder than words and in the case of Commission each individual has to make a choice.

On the amount you posted for the CIP is that over time of in this next budget for the fiscal year? If that is the case...CLOSE the CIP for Two Years use funds to get the city overall budget balanced....CIP can be held back unless it's has direct impact on faulty infrastructure.

  8. The billboard settlement(over one million dollars)was put somewhere into the CIP. When ex chairman Exline of the FAB board asked staff where in the CIP it was, they could not tell him. What a damned shell game. And now we hear that we are adding FOUR new dept heads(plus their endless staff) into this already top heavy mess?Really? Our pool was closed ,but we can have new soccar fields? The employees of Lake Worth are growing in number. And my tax bill just keeps going up,up ,up!

  9. Not soccer fields. According to Mr. Howard of the post they are multi purpose fields.A little too small to be football fields. Just right I guess for flag football. I guess not enough of the population plays softball anymore.
