Kayaking in Lake Worth

Comment Up

Vice Mayor Suzanne Mulvehill, an avid kayaker, wants to make paddling a better-known recreational option in Lake Worth.

On Tuesday, Mulvehill will ask the city commission to designate the Lake Worth Paddling Trail - an 8-mile route paddlers can follow from Bryant Park north to the West Palm Beach Canal, then west into Lake Clarke Shores and south to Lake Osborne.

  1. Suzanne is a great ambassador for the City of LW. She would make a great mayor.

  2. Nice to see she continues to work on issues that are real important to ALL the residents in Lake Worth, issues that are going to help turn Lake Worth around? Kayaks? Camping in John Prince Park? She's an experienced kayaker- too bad she's not an expereinced code enforement officer, or someone with the experince to efficiently run a city. Kayaks and noise ordiannces. The future looks brighter every day.

  3. The City has to be marketed to attract visitors, businesses and people to our City and Vice mayor Mulvehill attempts to do that at every opportunity. Do you have a problem with that? She is a Commissioner, not a code officer. Why don't you apply to the code department since you have all of the answers.

  4. Actually, Mulvehill is someone with the experience to efficiently run a city. That is why the city is running more efficiently than it did before she was elected.

WISH she was a code officer! She can come to my house anytime!

  5. These bodies of water have been here for many, many years and experienced kayakers have been using them for years. The county is providing most of the amenities, pier, docks etc. If you wish to pull your kayak out of the water and up and down a pretty steep embankment at the spillway you could have done it all along. What's new? There is nothing new here except a city commissioner wanting to put a name to it. Hers!!

  6. Sort of like grandstanding and having a yearly Resolution in recognizing Martin Luther King Day? Is that what you are saying? Can you EVER find anything positive about anything or is this always about politics and who can spew the most hate? You are the ones who want to sit down at the table and "talk." BS.

Commissioner Mulvehill is calling attention to Lake Worth and an amenity, exactly what she should be doing.

  7. Lynn there is no hate here on my part. I thought I was just stating the obvious. Sorry if you want to construe this as negativism and hate.I hope your not comparing the commissioners kayak loop with the celebration of the life of a hero of civil rights for all. What the commissioners should be doing is finding ways to make Dixie highway a prosperous and viable business destination. If they spent as much time on that as they do on a kayaking loop I am sure more ideas would be put forth. At the very least some Ideas!

  8. It is negative. When I talk about the MLK Resolution, I am comparing the grandstanding done by politicians and something for which you seem to be accusing Mulvehill of doing.

Everything that promotes Lake Worth that puts us in a positive light will eventually bring good results. It is just one phase of being a commissioner. Mulvehill does it better than any other.

Granted, there are many important things and issues to address in our city. Marketing, however, is very important and just one of them.
