Lindsey files Ethics Complaint

Comment Up
Recently I wrote about an elected official who threatened a local business for allowing a fund raiser for a political opponent. This is clearly abuse of power in my mind; some believe it is criminal.

Elected officials need to recognize that there will always be political differences but a restaurant owner should be able to have whomever he chooses at his store for any legal purpose. It was Commissioner Jennings obligation to recognize that there are political differences and what she did was attempt to undermine the foundation of this business and the owner’s civil rights.

You don’t go around threatening a business in the City of Lake Worth as an elected official. Whether Mary Lindsey's ethics complaint falls under Florida Statutes or not will be determined. We have been trying to rid the City of corruption for years. Abuse of power of this nature is just another form of it. This was clearly wrong and once again, the City of Lake Worth deserves an apology from Cara Jennings as does Gary Dario of Nature's Way. Scott Maxwell got his revenge by being elected the new commissioner for District 1.

  1. An apology for closing down someones business? How about a recall.

  2. Mary Lindsey and crew filing an ethics complaint. Boy ,talk about the pot calling the kettle black ! Mary, who was behind the ILLEGAL fliers sent out with the city of Lake Worth utilities dept return address? Who has been responsible for all of the stolen campaign signs? I don't agree in any way with what Cara did to Mr. Maxwell, but the idea that Mary and her crew are acting all "holier than thou" is laughable. Mary, just a word of warning, People that live in glass houses and jump around ranting and raving, tend to get cut by all that BROKEN GLASS.Take your friends and leave Lake Worth. Go rape some other city.

  3. Katie,

Laurence McNamara was repeatedly found putting signs on people's properties with out asking permission, even after being asked to remove them. He falsey stated he was endorsed by the Democratic Club. See the following e-mail that was sent out:

    Subject: falsehood of Democratic endorsement

Harvey, please send this our to our membership email lists and to Terri Rizzo at the DEC also. Folks need to know of this deceit.

I am ashamed of this as we emphasized that we were not endorsing anyone to the candidates at our forum.

On September 15th the Board of the Lake Worth Democratic Club decided not to endorse any of the candidates for Lake Worth offices. In the past we have not endorsed and we continued this practice. We realize that our members were supporting various candidates and chose not to endorse anyone. On October 19th we held a candidate forum as a service to the community as we have done for the last several years. To repeat, we did not endorse any Lake Worth candidate for mayor and the statement on Laurence McNamara’s campaign flyer saying that he is “co-endorsed by the Democratic Club” is a falsehood. Please be advised.

Note: The e-mail is reproduced as sent.

Furthermore, who was responsible for tapingthose despicable flyers on top of Rene's signs.

My family has been here for five generations. Why don't you and your friends leave?

  4. I have no knowledge of any fliers taped to any other candidates signs. I am 100% sure that Katie doesn't either. As far as the McNamara endorsement on his campaign literature, this was a mistake due to the fact that he was on the web site of the DEC. There were assumptions that were made that were false, even by me. I talked to two candidates that confirmed these endorsements. I talked to several people who thought that the Dem Party was endorsing these people. It was not meant to deceive. Varela's literature also had some mistakes that were not expounded upon by the McNamara campaign.

  5. I personally pulled several set off of Rene's signs. I was told by others that they did the same thing.

  6. If the owner of Natures Way wants to file a complaint, fine. If Mr. Maxwell wants to file a complaint, fine. But who in the heck are YOU ? to file a complaint ?Retha Lowe, Tom Ramiccio,Dave Vespo, and Nadine Burns are not in jail,so good luck with that ethics complaint. Who sent out the illegal fliers with the city of Lake Worth utilities return address ? Who stole all of our candidates signs? How dare you even mention people putting out signs illegally? Talk to the Queen of random placement, Loretta Sharpe. As for me leaving- I'm a native. There are too many of me to leave. This is my town.Your out-of-power Lake Worth tear down artists ,however, could pool their money and rent a large U-Haul. That should cover all of you. Ask the Dolphin killing,no honor, suck- up to drive.Just don't fall out -he'll run you over and won't look back.Tallahassee or bust.

  7. Oh, and by the way, Barry from the t-shirt shop caught a couple who he described as "middle-aged" stealing Macnamara's signs on High Ridge road.He has their license plate number.I hope he goes to the police.

  8. Katie,

I didn't file a complaint, did you see me do it? I know the answer is no.

I have no idea what you are rambling on about concerning our former mayor and commissioners. I also don't know who sent out the "illegal fliers" and who stole the candidates signs, only that I heard that it happened to all the candidates except Jordan who had no signs.

"How dare you even mention people putting out signs illegally?" Oh Please, and I do talk to Loretta.

I really don't know how many of "you" you have cloned, but apparently you don't have the math skills to comprehend that if my family has been here for five generations, obviously some of them are natives.

I have news for you, there are approxiametely 39,000 other citizens who consider this "my town".

I am not a tear down artist, but a business owner, home owner and citizen of Lake Worth who is active in our community, against blight and would like to see our beautiful downtown stores occupied with successful enterprises. If you interpret that vision as a "tear down artist ", that certainly is your prerogative.

Barry is a business owner who has been part of our town for a long time and I enjoy frequenting his business. His apparel clothes many of my friends and family. I am extremely PRO Police and the PBSO and have no opposition to him doing just that.

  10. Gee Katie, I apologize. When you commented immediately after my post, I mistakenly thought the "you" was me.

You have really crushed me. I thought it was all about me. I will go do some more volunteer work as penance.

    Have a fabulous day.
