After a backlash from the state’s top Republicans, the Palm Beach County Republican Party has backed away from its official, public support for Mike Caruso, the party’s nominee for county circuit clerk and comptroller who has been arrested and charged with sex abuse involving a young child.
Early this week, the county Republican Party posted a “voter guide” on various social media accounts urging voters to support its nominees for federal, state and local offices. It was a routine, election-year guide, except that it included Caruso.
U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., wrote Monday evening on social media that the county party’s support for Caruso “is disgusting. Mike Caruso should IMMEDIATELY withdraw. The people of Palm Beach deserve better.”
Caruso was arrested in August on five felony counts related to sex abuse charges involving a young child. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The case remains open in the circuit court of Orange County.
The party’s support for Caruso drew criticism from Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“We serve our party best by putting our citizens, state and country first. Disappointing to see this endorsement. Some things are bigger than party,” DeSantis wrote Monday night on social media.

People are innocent until PROVEN GUILTY. Kids don't always tell the truth so stop being so naive. Caruso says it never happened. He gets his day in court like any other American. Because top Republicans want him to disappear as they don't want the Party to deal with the subject at all and will throw Caruso down the tubes without him getting his due diligence...It' easier, not admirable.
Several people that I knew that have Trump derangement syndrome or have all this hate toward President Trump they wanted me to join their hate club but I won't join it so then they just cancel me but it's actually a real blessing so count your blessings too if people hate you or they don't like you or they've canceled you now because you won't join their club of hate, just count your blessings because it's all a blessing not to be around people like that anymore!
