Iran Moves To Rebuild Hezbollah
The Iran analysts at the American Enterprise Institute’s Critical Threats Project say a senior Iranian delegation close to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei visited southern Lebanon this week to shore up Hezbollah. The trip signals that Iran is moving to rebuild its most important proxy at the proxy’s weakest point in years.
Hezbollah has been the crown jewel of Iran’s regional network and the dagger pointed at Israel’s northern border. An attempt to reconstitute it after two devastating wars is the clearest sign Tehran intends to rearm rather than retreat, and it puts a fragile ceasefire at risk.
The delegation went to the south. Critical Threats reported that a senior Iranian delegation of figures close to the Supreme Leader visited southern Lebanon on October 1 to support Hezbollah.
Hardliners led it. The group reportedly included IRGC Brigadier General Hossein Yekta, an officer tied to recruitment and internal security, and the ultra-hardline cleric Alireza Panahian, both longtime associates of Khamenei.
This rests on one analyst source. The account comes from a think-tank intelligence update and a single outlet echoing it, not yet matched by a wire service, so read it as a credible analyst report rather than confirmed fact.
