Families of 9/11 victims are demanding New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani stay away from the 25th anniversary ceremony at Ground Zero, and a resurfaced 2023 social media post is fueling the pressure.Giovanni Galante lost his wife Grace on September 11, 2001. Now he is leading a petition drive that has drawn tens of thousands of signatures calling on ceremony organizers to block Mamdani from participating in the commemoration this September.
The petition, hosted on Change.org, cites Mamdani's public record, his association with online commentator Hasan Piker, and what families describe as a pattern of minimizing the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people.
Mamdani says he plans to attend anyway. His office did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
