Opponents Seek to Block Start of Work on Trump Arch

The Trump administration plans to break ground within two weeks on a 250-foot arch just beyond the gates of Arlington National Cemetery.

Critics say (and there are always critics about everything when it comes to Trump), it would disrupt historic sightlines intended to symbolize the nation’s reconciliation after the Civil War.

Three Vietnam veterans who have filed a federal lawsuit seeking to stop the project asked a judge to block the administration from breaking ground while their case proceeds.

In a U.S. District Court filing on Friday seeking a temporary restraining order, lawyers for the plaintiffs said the administration has "no legal basis for the construction work." They said ⁠the arch violates federal law and needs approval from Congress. [PBS]
