Stockbridge's youngest mayor removed after sexting and spending scandals

— then blamed the city for not training him

By Jayden Williams, the 23-year-old who made history as Georgia's youngest elected Black mayor, lasted less than a year in office before the Stockbridge City Council impeached him over misused city funds and sexually explicit messages with a teenage mentorship student.

Williams broke his public silence after the removal, telling WSB-TV he never expected to lose his job. He admitted the relationship with the 18-year-old male high school student was "somewhat" inappropriate but insisted he had not violated his oath of office.

He blamed city officials for failing to walk him through basic financial procedures, even as records showed thousands of dollars in personal purchases charged to a city account.

The Stockbridge City Council voted earlier this month to remove Williams on grounds of malfeasance, misfeasance, and violation of his oath of office, according to Breitbart. The city issued a terse confirmation:

"The City of Stockbridge confirms that the City Council has taken formal action concerning the Office of Mayor. The Mayor has been removed from office." Williams had taken office in January and served roughly ten months.
