A homeless encampment stretching roughly 12 blocks along Manhattan's West Side, from the Intrepid Museum to the Jacob Javits Center, continues to grow while Mayor Zohran Mamdani offers vague promises and the NYPD waits for permission to act.The sprawl of tents, trash, and reported illegal activity sits in one of the most visible corridors in New York City, steps from tourist attractions and a major convention center, and it exists in large part because the mayor made dismantling such camps harder the moment he took office.
Mamdani campaigned on a promise to stop encampment sweeps. He kept that promise. Then, facing public pressure, he introduced a revised policy requiring seven days of outreach by city workers before any encampment can be cleared.
The result, on full display along 11th Avenue between West 34th and West 46th Streets, is a 12-block stretch of disorder that residents, workers, and visitors say has made the area unrecognizable.
The mayor told reporters the site "has been noticed and it will be cleared." But he declined to say when the seven-day clock actually starts, a detail that matters when the encampment keeps expanding.
"The NYPD has not been given the green light to clean this encampment up, but we are ready to do so."
That single sentence captures the dysfunction. The officers are willing. The authority hasn't come. And so the camp grows while the mayor's outreach teams visit the site and, by Fox News Digital's account, primarily collect trash.

ReplyDeleteAs in the movie Atlas Shrugged, Mamdani's efforts to tax the rich and the smarter, the movers and shakers- and the people who create business and invent what is needed for the "economic engine of the City" - are causing them to leave, to escape, en masse. These Captains of business and industry will soon be gone, and the mediocre, the DEI, the dumb, the sick, the lazy and the core Democrats will be left without companies making profits they can steal, and they will be unable to keep this engine running ( sorry for the redundancy). The massive debt service that communism will cause will have Mamdani asking Trump to bail out his now "3rd world urban cesspool", and if the universe is fair, Trump will be able to say NO!. The failure of communism needs to be seen once again, and hopefully this can be understood by the communists driving Lake Worth into a much smaller future cesspool.

People, many of them wealthy, have left the NE, including NY, for Florida for over a century. This is not a new trend nor will it ever change.
ReplyDeleteI just haven't heard of an influx of WEALTHY PEOPLE FROM NYC saying they've had it with Mamdani (specifically) and that he alone has caused them to abandon their penthouses and mansions in NYC and move to Florida. Maybe it's happening and journalists aren't reporting about the thousands of millionaires and billionaires who are caravaning down 95 to South Floirida from the Upper East Side...but I honestly don't see it.
They even said in the news recently that Goldman Sachs is leaving New York City to be based in Texas and florida. New York City is damned because of all the evil and wickedness they are doing these Muslims and Islam a satanic sect is destroying them and our ways here in the United States communism and socialism is not the way Jesus is the only way! And New York City gets what it deserves it's unfortunate but these stupid leaders look what California has become in New York City is and Chicago are the same too. Pray for these losers!
