Artemis 2 launches to the moon today!
It's been more than 50 years since humans have visited the moon. Today, the Artemis 2 mission is set to launch us back there.Lifting off from Florida between 5:24 p.m. and 7:24 p.m. CDT (22:24-0:24 UTC), the Artemis 2 spacecraft will send 4 astronauts on a 10-day trip around the far side of the moon and back to Earth.
It will be the 1st crewed mission beyond low Earth orbit since the final Apollo mission in 1972.
Currently, there is an 80% chance of favorable weather conditions for the launch. If weather gets in the way, there are also launch opportunities every day through Monday, April 6.

ReplyDeleteThis is getting me very nervous.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous complaining above..this is fabulous. Where is your national pride? Oh, that's right, a Democrat. Do you guys do anything but complain?
ReplyDelete@5:59...that is an hilarious statement. A Bachelor's degree (4 years) plus a Master's degree (2 years) in Engineering, Biological Science, Physical Science, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
ReplyDeleteProfessional Experience: Minimum of 3 years of related professional experience or 1,000 hours as a jet pilot-in-command.
Application & Selection: The selection process is extremely competitive; for example, NASA once chose only 12 people from over 18,000 applicants.
Basic Training: Selected candidates (astronaut candidates) undergo about 2 years of basic training, which includes Russian language training, spacewalking (EVA) practice, robotics, and International Space Station systems.
Mission Training: After becoming a full astronaut, you may wait several more years to be assigned to a mission, with total time from selection to flight often taking 4 to 10 years.
NO DEI HERE.
