They are partnering with local radio station Today’s 101.9 to host a major adoption drive, “Santa Paws: Home for the Holidays,” aimed at emptying the shelter kennels just in time for the holiday season.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the BCAS facility, located at 13800 Manor Rd in Baldwin. With the shelter continuing to experience an increase in incoming pets, officials are urging the community to consider adopting, fostering, or volunteering.

Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier expressed gratitude for the partnership, noting, “Opening your heart and your home to a shelter animal is deeply kind and fulfilling.” She emphasized that the station’s help is vital in encouraging residents to give these animals the love they deserve.

Dr. RenĂ© Varela, Bureau Director for Baltimore County Animal Services, echoed the sentiment, stating, “If you’ve been thinking about adopting, this is the perfect time to find your match.” He stressed that the shelter is currently full of wonderful animals waiting to become part of a family, calling the love of a pet “no better gift.”

Glad he's so successful now but he sure put the city in a bad predicament when he left.

  1. I think Peggy Adams does a good job. That is the place where I send donations. It's unfortunate that we can't shut down the puppy mills, and such. It would make such a difference. There are people saving horses, donkeys, not to mention the thousands of kittens. Groups working in Puerto Rico to save dogs, and fly them here, and if you've ever been to Puerto Rico, you would understand the need. I miss Varela, and wish him success with the Baltimore Shelter.

  2. It is ironic how all of the Democrats they love having all these puppy mills and rescue animals and saving all the rescue animals but it's okay to kill innocent helpless voiceless babies in the womb they never stand up for stopping abortion at all but it's okay to have all these animals and save rescue animals, pretty sad for our society save the babies! The Democrats have to be the most flawed and illogical group to ever exist they're against the death penalty but then they are for abortion killing babies, babies are innocent, people who are going up for the death penalty they killed somebody else do you see the dichotomy here? It's so ironic and it's so sad and so sick that they stand up for all of this abortion and saving rescue animals and people who have killed somebody else!

  3. I understand the irony. The issue is one of conscience. However, as an animal lover, I am glad to see people saving animals.
