LAKE WORTH BEACH — An 18-year-old man drove under the influence of marijuana during a February 2024 collision that killed a motorcyclist in Lake Worth Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office alleged in arresting him June 13.
Juan Escobar Hernandez of Lake Worth Beach is facing one count each of DUI manslaughter, DUI causing property damage and driving on a restricted license following his arrest in the Feb. 29, 2024, death of Jorge De Leon of West Palm Beach.
During a hearing June 14, Circuit Judge Donald Hafele ordered that Escobar Hernandez, now 19, be held without bail on the manslaughter charge and assigned him a public defender. As a matter of policy, the Palm Beach County Public Defender's Office does not comment on active cases.
