Upon returning to Washington, President Trump spoke to reporters at Joint Base Andrews, making it clear that without federal troops, Los Angeles would be in flames. “If we didn’t send them in, Los Angeles would be burning down right now, just like the houses burned down,” he said, referencing the devastating wildfires earlier this year. When pressed on whether military involvement could escalate tensions, Trump fired back, “It can only go right. By having the military, it de-escalates.”
