Ted Cruz’s Chilling Warning to Homeland Security

This is taxpayer betrayal; this is theft; this is a security threat

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) issued a stern warning about potential consequences.

“To every official at the Department of Homeland Security, or anywhere else, who approves selling off incredibly expensive portions of the border wall for $5 a piece, you are engaged in theft of government property and you should expect the Department of Justice to investigate you and prosecute you,” Cruz said.

The timing and manner of these sales take on added significance given recent border security statistics. A December of 2024 Gallup poll shows majority of Americans now support major expansion of border wall construction.

This is a 13-point increase since 2019. This surge in public support makes the fire sale even more questionable from both security and fiscal perspectives.
