HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

National Park Service reverses course, grants permit for Memorial Day Mass inside cemetery

A lawsuit was filed

National Park Service has granted the permit for the Knights of Columbus to host a Memorial Day Mass inside a national cemetery, according to a May 23 news release from legal organization First Liberty.

“The Knights are thrilled that they will be able to exercise their religious beliefs and keep this honorable tradition alive,” First Liberty Senior Counsel Roger Byron stated in the news release. “We appreciate the tremendous support of Governor Youngkin and Attorney General Miyares in this case.”

The Knights have hosted a Memorial Day Mass inside Poplar Grove National Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia, every year since the 1960s.

National Park Service under the Biden administration halted this tradition in 2023, when it denied the Knights the permit to host the Mass within the cemetery, citing a policy change that prohibited “demonstrations,” which included non-committal religious services, inside the cemetery.

The Knights and the Park Service reached an agreement and the lawsuit was dropped.

    1. biden is not good nor really a Catholic, he doesn't even go to church, Bill Clinton used to go to church each week. Biden is a huge baby killer supporter, a real slave for Satan!

  3. Current Florida allows for that, Lynn, if the mother's health is at risk. So if you're going to get mad at Biden, get mad at DeSantis and every other state that notes the mother's health exception in their laws.

  4. @5:03--Florida law--It prohibits abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, except in cases where the life of the mother is at risk. It also allows abortions up to 15 weeks in cases of rape, incest or human trafficking.

  5. Right, Lynn. DeSantis (and other Republican govenors) believe in abortions up until the time of birth if the woman's life is at risk.

So when you say that Biden "believes in abortions up until the time of birth"...both Republicans and Democrats do when the mother's life is at risk.

  6. @10pm...Wrong again, Liberal.
The six-week abortion ban, with exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the woman, that Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law last year is in effect. The only thing stopping this is the push to pass abortion up to the day of delivery (killing of babies in the womb) by liberals that will be on he ballot in November.
Right now, you can NOT have an abortion after 6 weeks other than those few exceptions.
