Addiction, mental illness and violence in blue cities

Suspect who fought San Jose mayor’s security detail identified

The man who fought Democrat San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan’s security detail Tuesday has been identified. The altercation was caught on video as Mahan was in the middle of a KRON4 interview.

The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Wesley Pollard of an unknown residence, according to the San Jose Police Department. He remains in custody at Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas (used to live in this town) with a bail of $26,000.

Pollard was booked for resisting an arrest with violence and for battery of an officer, SJPD said. It was later discovered that Pollard had a warrant for his arrest from Georgia for resisting arrest with violence.
