Senate Republicans Spearheading Amendment to National Voting Rights Act

Senate Republicans are pushing a bill that requires proof of citizenship to register to vote by mail

This comes as Republicans claim some cities are allowing non-Americans to vote.

Many have accused Democrats of allowing the border crisis, to use migrants to sway elections, and I'm one of them.

Since 2020, many states have passed laws to protect their elections. Most of the time, they were met with intense criticisms by Democrat leaders.

But over the last few years, reports have suggested that election integrity is a bigger issue than some politicians have let on.

Now, Republicans in D.C. are introducing a new bill to secure American elections. How Democrats respond might expose their true motives.

Read about it... If Democrats oppose this, and they will, they will have a lot of explaining to do

  1. Republicans oppose non citizens voting...PERIOD, local or otherwise.

  2. But if a town wants let non-citizen residents vote for the school board or dog catcher or whether a park is built, what's wrong with that?

    1. It is so stupid you should have to be a citizen to vote in all electios in the USA, , citizens have a true alligience to this country.

  3. @6:50...they are ILLEGAL. THEY SHOULD NOT EVEN BE IN OUR COUNTRY. Crossing our border is a crime if they did not do it the legal way. Why should they have a voice in anything at all? 60% of them are on welfare paid for by you and me. It's all insane.

  4. Actually, illegal immigrants are NOT what the bill's author addresses. If you read her press release, you would understand. She gives Washington DC as an example so she cites embassy staff and noncitizens who have been residents for more than 30 days, as examples of people who should not be voting. There are plenty of green card holders and legal immigrants who also fall into this category. Not all noncitizen residents are "illegals." Is that what you really believe?

  5. @7:55...what I believe is that every non-citizen should have zero rights to vote in our country. Got it? Legally, they should never be allowed to vote, our country's most precious right for citizens. Most of the non-citizens are illegal.

  6. As of January 2023, there were 12.7 million lawful permanent residents living in the US.

The unauthorized immigrant population in the United States reached 10.5 million in 2021, the last official count. Obviously, it's higher now...how much higher, who knows but even if there were a few million more, your statement that "Most of the non-citizens are illegal" doesn't appear to be factual.

I understand your opinion that non-citizens should not be voting in the US, whether it's for President or sheriff of a county. I don't agree with it because I believe that if the law allows for communities to determine who can vote in LOCAL elections, the communities know what is best for them and should be allowed to decide for themselves instead of having DC politicians tell them what to do. That is consistent with conservatism, something that many Republicans have lost touch with these past 7 years.
