Senate Democrats Derail Bipartisan House Aid to Israel
In a recent development on Capitol Hill, Senate Democrats have halted the progression of a standalone bill aimed at providing financial aid to Israel.The bill, spearheaded by Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas, encountered opposition due to its exclusion of assistance for Ukraine.
The proposed legislation, which had previously gained bipartisan support in the House of Representatives on November 2, sought to allocate $14.3 billion for Israel. This funding was to be redirected from the Internal Revenue Service’s budget as part of President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.
The Senate version of this bill was introduced last month by Senators Marshall, Ted Cruz, JD Vance, and Mike Lee.
