Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson Leaves Sinking Democrat Ship
Will Switch Affiliation to Republican Party “America’s Cities Need Republicans, and I’m Becoming One”
In an Op-Ed in The Wall Street Journal Friday morning, he explained his decision.Johnson discussed the successful work his administration has done to reduce violent crime in his city and shared his pride in reducing property tax rates to increase interest from investors.
Johnson received 98.7% of the vote in his re-election campaign this year and, though he affirms he has no intention of changing his approach, he will change his party affiliation saying, “Next spring, I will be voting in the Republican primary. When my career in elected office ends in 2027 on the inauguration of my successor as mayor, I will leave office as a Republican.”
Too often, local tax dollars are spent on policies that exacerbate homelessness, coddle criminals and make it harder for ordinary people to make a living. And too many local Democrats insist on virtue signaling—proposing half-baked government programs that aim to solve every single societal ill—and on finding new ways to thumb their noses at Republicans at the state or federal level. Enough. This makes for good headlines, but not for safer, stronger, more vibrant cities.

Good for him.
ReplyDeleteSome are finally smartening up!
ReplyDeleteSo he was elected as a Democrat in May 2023. His constituents voted for him because he was a Democrat. And then once he got elected, he changed parties 4 months later.
ReplyDeleteWhile he's allowed to do that, I can't even imagine what MAGA would do to this guy if he had switched from Republican to Democrat.
I don't care if you're a Democrat or Republican, if you're pretending to be something you're not just to get elected, it's wrong...morally and ethically.
@9:52...so what do you think MAGA WOULD DO? Free country but slowly becoming less so thanks to Democrats.
ReplyDeleteThis guy obviously saw the light. Dallas, as most major cities, are dominated by Democrats, Progressives, minorities and those with their hands out. You can look at them all...homeless, illegals, crime out of control.
9:52, you crack me up.
ReplyDeleteAre you just finding out that Republicans are frauds and will do anything to get elected? Where have you been?
Oh, and of course this blogger is going to defend him. Her moral compass is set to politics, not what is right or wrong.
9:52 is clueless.
