There was an Op Ed in the Palm Beach Post on Thursday entitled "Medicaid cuts leave thousands without coverage."
The Palm Beach Post will take every opportunity to put DeSantis or Trump in a bad light
It was written by two members, Christopher Irizarry CEO and David Dosdson on the Board of Directors of FoundCare, a non-profit reimbursed by the federal government. Their complaint was that 130,000 Medicaid recipients would be without coverage. But States have begun to remove people from Medicaid, something they could not do for three years during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hundreds of thousands of people are losing coverage – not because of their income, but because of administrative problems, like missing a renewal notification in the mail.
And a poll this week from KFF found that 65% of Medicaid enrollees across the country didn't know states can now remove people from the program if they are not eligible or don't complete the renewal process.
In Florida, a four-person household must make less than $39,900 in annual income to qualify for Medicaid. That seems like a lot to me.
The state's early data indicates that 44% of those who have lost coverage in recent weeks were removed for procedural reasons, like a failure to return paperwork on time.
The article that was given a prominent spot on the Palm Beach Post Editorial page implies that big bad Florida and Ron DeSantis arbitrarily (just another way to take a crack at a Red State) are purposely not renewing Medicaid for 130,000 poor. It does not mention that their business is losing patients and therefore a big part of their income due to people failing to follow renewal procedure.
Make these lazy bums work!
