US Navy engineer and his wife plotted to sell nuclear submarine secrets to Brazil

Both face LIFE in prison after entering new guilty pleas

  • Jonathan and Diana Toebbe of Annapolis, Maryland, pleaded guilty on Tuesday
  • They admitted bungling plot to sell secrets about US warships
  • Plan to sell secrets to Brazil was reportedly motivated by contempt for Trump--It really was all about $$$$
  • Federal judge rejected their first guilty pleas for carrying lenient sentences
  • Now the couple both face life in prison, though prosecutors seek less time
Under the latest plea agreement entered Tuesday before US Magistrate Judge Robert Trumble, the couple would each face a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $100,000 fine, although prosecutors are asking for a sentence for Diana Toebbe at the lowest end of the guideline range.

    This is really an ugly story about two Americans. I would like to know what kind of homes they grew up in. What kind of people could do something like this.

    It's not even about ideology, just about greed.

    They should get life in prison. Maybe just not in a prison in this country.
