Should PBSO carry Narcan for those who have overdosed?

PBSO official’s ‘low shot’ during Narcan debate with county leaders decried by recovery advocates

"NALOXONE, THE LIFE-SAVING drug that reverses the effects of opioids and is commonly sold under the brand Narcan, is carried by sheriff’s deputies in nearly two-thirds of Florida’s 67 counties, according to one law-enforcement study.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, which patrols a county known as “the recovery capital of the world,” is not among them.

“There are a lot of socio-economic issues that are the cause. Drug addiction, that’s not a law enforcement issue," Said PBSO's second in command.

I agree with PBSO but read the article by Joe Capozzi and tell us what you think.

  1. Reading the article does not change my mind. I don't like drug addicts. They are not new. There were plenty of heroin users in the 70's. In fact, they robbed mt house and took my jewelry, The police knew who they were, and they played cat and mouse with them. I kept trying to work with the police, but I never was successful in getting the stuff back. One day, the phone rang. It was the girl, of the trio who robbed me. She said leave us alone, or we will blow up your house. They never heard from me after that.

This incident did not take place in Florida.

I don't care what happens to them, and I think it is stupid to keep saving them. Ironically, it seems to be mostly stupid white kids who OD.

The idea that you send your kids to beautiful Florida for rehab, indicates to me that you are as stupid as your kid. Send the freakin kid to the North Pole, or the Taklamakan Desert. Let them walk back. If they make it, they will be cured.

  3. Maybe PBSO should have a nationwide add campaign warning addicts not to come here if they are expecting to be brought back to the land of the living with Narcan.

"If you overdose in Palm Beach County ,we say no no to Narcan. So bye-bye,you gonna die".
