New York Public Library Refuses to Pull Dr. Seuss Titles
The New York Public Library has refused to pull the six Dr. Seuss books that have been deemed "controversial."“The New York Public Library will keep six controversial Dr. Seuss books on the shelves despite this week’s decision to cease their publication due to racist imagery,” the New York Post reported Thursday.
“The library, which serves Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island, said it does not censor books and will keep the controversial titles in circulation until they are no longer in suitable shape to lend out, a spokeswoman said.” [Thinkamericana]
This is stupid. Who said Dr. Seuss was controversial?
ReplyDeleteI've never been a Seuss fan, but I can't see any reason to ban it. I wonder who these people are? Who died and left them in charge? That is the question. Who makes these decisions? Why do they, whoever they are have any authority over library books?
