Demands Officers Leave as City’s Nightly Violence Continues

“Take your troops out of Portland,” Mayor Ted Wheeler said, directing his remarks to Trump. “We can handle better than they can what’s going on in our streets.”

Violence has continued in Portland, a sanctuary city, since George Floyd's death. The governor and mayor are in complete denial. At President Trump's urging, federal law enforcement agents arrived in the city over the weekend to defend federal property in Portland.
