Liberal's Vendetta to Erase History

Lake Worth Beach commissioner Omari Hardy wants to rename Dixie Highway

I guess I have to say it--if there is anyone who makes it easy to dislike on our commission, it is Hardy.

He said, "In the year 2020, there shouldn't be a highway named Dixie. It was originally an interstate highway that would pretty much lead all the way to Florida up through the Midwest. It was one of the first highways in the south, so it’s not an accident it was named Dixie."

So what?  What' next? Eradicating the name "South" because the war that took place 160 years ago was between the North and South? It's as stupid as the Dixie Chicks now changing their groups name to just plain ole Chicks.

Hardy is still fighting the Civil War. The states where Dixie Highway existed until many changed to Interstate numbers were Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida. Through the years the Interstates changed to I-25 and I-75, as examples, that were in Michigan and Ohio, certainly not southern states. Dixie Highway has been around since 1915.

"In 2015, Riviera Beach changed Old Dixie Highway to President Barack Obama Highway." I would guess that renaming it Black Lives Matter would suffice for Hardy. But in the current environment, any claim or posture that’s seen as emanating from the Black Lives Matter movement, however indirectly, is taken as morally unassailable.

Changing the name of our Highway will not improve the lives of our African American neighbors. And it offends no one and if it does, it is in their racist mind. This is a big part of our history and it needs to remain.

Hardy is bringing this up at the July 7 meeting. Can't wait for all that posturing once again.

  1. Bad news, Lynn.

Dixie Highway is everyone's highway and the democratic process will determine if it is renamed.

    It's the way America works.

  2. @7:55--what's "bad news, Lynn?"
Omari continues to throw around his weight. He is fighting a fight he can't win in this city. In fact, I would think, he can't win with most people. Now, the liberal Democrats which are prevalent around here might go along with this bull chit, but no one else will.

  4. Scott Maxwell learned it years ago...You have to known when to pick your fights. Omari might have every liberal on his side of insanity but it won't help. It will just be another commission meeting on a subject that he will filibuster and it will go down in defeat. HOPEFULLY

  7. He was elected to be a city commissioner.
Time for him to find a way to lower taxes in Lake Worth Beach.
He will do anything that gets him on TV or in the paper.

  8. I really take offense to Commissioner Hardy using our city Commission meeting as a photo op . With everything that our citizens and businesses are suffering with right now, Dixie Hwy is way ,way down on the list of priorities.Anything to Gin up some faux outrage for the cameras, right Hardy? It's very plain that this town is not this man's priority.Perhaps if he's incapable of doing something to really help us all,Commissioner Hardy should avoid the meeting altogether and give Donkey rides out in front of City Hall.

  10. Instead of being grateful for the huge raise he got from Lake Worth taxpayers, he is constantly ignoring the dignity of his elected office and the hard work that we citizens have done over the years to improve Lake Worth.
His term is over soon, thank God.
Can we find a good replacement?

  12. The problem with most elected, is they are supposed to listen to their constituents and vote and support what the majority want, not what just he wants! Now we know he does not represent the majority of owners in Lake Worth. Just don't vote for him ever again, now I know I won't!

  13. Commissioners are Lake Worth Taxpayers' PUBLIC SERVANTS, NOT LAKE WORTH BEACH CITY OWNERS,LIKE I HAVE PROVEN
TO A PALM BEACH ATTORNEYWHO CLAIMED OWNERSHIP OF WHAT I NAMED OLD BRIDGE PARK,NOW LAKE WORTH GREEN MARKET,I WON IN A COURT BATTLE WITH SUBMITTING ITS' DEED ,
WHICH STATED IT BELONGED TO THE CITY OF LAKE WORTH IN
    PERPETUITY!
NO PUBLIC SERVANT OWNS THE HISTORIC CITY OF LAKE WORTH BEACH,AND HAS A RIGHT TO CHANGE ITS
COMPOSITION ,MAKE AMENDMENTS,WITHOUT MAJORITY COMMISSION VOTE!
CONSULT THE LAKE WORTH CITY CHARTER, DON'T LIKE IT MOVE !

  14. A COMMISSIONER IS ELECTED TO INCREASE THE CITY BUDGET,
    WITH NEWLY CREATED PROJECTS,REVENUE PRODUCING,
TO PAY THEIR SALALRIES, MAINTAIN ROADS,PARKS,MARINAS, BOAT DOCKS
    PUBLIC BUILDINGS,UTILITY, ALL CITY PROPERTIES.
AS A CITIZEN AMBASSADOR OF THE LAKE WORTH MUNICIPAL INSTITUTE I FAMILIARIZED MYSELF WITH ALL CITY DEPARTMENTS,
IF COMMISSIONERS WERE INTERESTED IN IMPROVING THE CITY RATHER THAN GRANDSTANDING ON MISPLACED, GRIEVANCES TO BE ELECTED TO THE NEXT OFFICE. WE COULD GET BETTER SERVICES AND LOWER TAXES AND LESS ANIMOSITY,MORE REVENUE,LIKE WITH THE 1922 LAKE WORTH ADDISON MIZNER CASINO RE-CREATED,TOURISM MAGNET,
WITH MILLIONS$$$ REVENUE POTENTIAL, NOT ONE COMMISSION HAS BEEN ABLE TO REALIZE, ONLY BY A COMPETENT COMMISSION WITH BUSINESS ACUMEN POSSIBLE,NOT WITH
NCOMPETENCE OF PRESENT COMMISSION, UNABLE TO CREATE FULL USE OF OCEAN FRONT 1ST CLASS LOCATED,PALM BEACH BALLROOM,2ND FLOOR PRIME
LOCATED REVENUE,PALM BEACH OCEAN BEACH FRONT VIEW, RESTAURANT, I CAN RENT THIS 1ST CLASS RESTAURANT SPACE AT PALM BEACH ISLAND OCEANFRONT VIEW PRICE LEVEL!
PRESENT COMMISSION AND CITY EMPLOYEES SO HAD ONLY HAND OUT FOR INCREASES OF PAYCHECKS,WITHOUT
TALAHASSE NEEDS CAPABLE,DOERS,REVENUE CREATORS,WITH ABILITY TO PROVIDE THE REVENUE REQUIRED TO REALIZE THEIR DESIRE.
