President Trump's Tax Returns

New York's attorney general, Congress and Democrats have been going "bananas" over the Release of President Trump's tax returns. The Supreme Court has this case in front of them at this time. They will decide if President Trump must turn over eight years of tax returns and other financial records to Democratic-led House committees and New York City prosecutors.

Presidential Tax Returns

Individual income tax returns — including those of public figures — are private information, protected by law from unauthorized disclosure. Indeed, the Internal Revenue Service is barred from releasing any taxpayer information whatsoever, except to authorized agencies and individuals.

Like all other citizens, U.S. presidents enjoy this protection of their privacy. In 1974, Richard Nixon voluntarily release his return. Now most presidents and some vice presidents as well as candidates have chosen to release their returns publicly. The exception was Gerald Ford.

President Trump can release them; he doesn't want to. That should be the end of the story. But Democrats are pitbulls.
