UPDATE: Clean-Up at Genesis Neighborhood

UPDATE: There is a Go Fund Me campaign to help defray a few of the expenses of this clean-up for Beverly Bracken, a disabled woman.  Please donate if you can.

Genesis Neighborhood Association
Back Yard Clean-Up
1813 North J Street
July 9, 2019 - 8:30am

Commissioner Herman Robinson and candidate for Palm Beach Sheriff retired Lt. Alex Freeman, are among the couple of volunteers who have responded yes to our invite. My husband and myself will be there as well. We need as many volunteers as possible The more volunteers the quicker we can finish helping our neighbor.

*This back-yard clean-up is to help a long time disabled senior resident of our community. If you have their own gloves, please bring them and dress accordingly. Refreshments will be provided.

Mark Parrilla
President of Genesis NA

  1. What is the area of Genesis NA? This says North J St? Is Genesis still a entire true NA? What are the boundaries on a city map? I thought someone said a while back ago that this NA was defunct? That is so nice Mark does all of this for others, he is a saint, is Genesis NA just where he lives and that is why he is the president? Is it true that Genesis NA is not recognized by the rest of the city and NAPC?

  2. The woman who lives and owns the property reached out to Mark. He immediately said "yes" in helping her. This property is not in the Genesis NA.
    This NA is not defunct.
Genesis is recognized as a Lake Worth NA and Mark Parilla was invited to attend the Neighborhood Association monthly meetings by the new Council president, Craig Frost.

  3. Lynn, thank you for posting our volunteer event. Yes, Genesis has never been defunct. It has been going full force from the day it started until now. Yes, it has had to deal egos which I never allowed to get in the way of my desire to help in the community. Nothing they threw at me, ever stopped me from continuing my mission. My unstoppable motivation comes from following my Nana's teachings. I promised her I would do my best to continue to live her teaching and not let her legacy die. She was so proud when I started Genesis and she Loved the name, being a devoted Christian Missionary most of her life. She is the reason I started the Leocadia Fonseca Community Improvement Grant. Lynn is correct, the home owner called me and I was not going to brush her off and tell her to call her neighborhood association. We all operate in tandem with each other. The success of all of Genesis' events and projects have been because of the volunteers who show up from all of our other associations. We have helped many people who do not reside within our boundaries. In 2015 I met my soulmate, moved to Fort Lauderdale, after living in Lake Worth since 2008. I married in 2016 and we built our home in Parkland where we currently live. I made a promise to myself that, out of the Love I have for my Nana, Lake Worth and community service, I will always be involved in helping out wherever I can within our city. www.genesislakeworth.org shows digital evidence of how I keep my promise. I post this with intention of nothing other than to hopefully motivate more residents who, live in Lake Worth Beach, to get involved. if I can do it from almost an hour drive away, so can you! Together we can make Lake Worth Beach the best beachside city in South Florida, key word TOGETHER!

  4. Oh, I didn't know Mark moved to Broward. So you can be a president of a NA in Lake Worth and not live in the city now? That is nice Mark all you do and in your abuela's name. What streets and area does Genesis make up/cover in the city?

  5. Who are all the BOD and elected members of the Genesis NA? I do not see a list of the president, vice, secretary, treasurer, BOD members, etc? Anyone have the list, how can Mark do this all by himself?

  6. Each neighborhood association is governed by its own bylaws. There is no blanket governance of all N.A.'s. I wrote the Genesis bylaws I filed with the state. They allow for the Chairman of the Board/President to live "at large". Genesis boundaries are from the south side of 6th avenue south to the north side of 12th avenue south and from the east side of I95 to the west side of Dixie. Anonymous your curiosity for "the list" is interesting. A list has never been necessary to accomplish all that is detailed on our website. Officers are listed on www.sunbiz.org. We have a newly elected Vice President who was elected by the board this month. His name is Charles Willis and he resides within our boundaries.

Why would BOD names matter to anyone? A list of the President, Vice, Secretary, Treasurer? Anonymous, Mark cares enough about the city, that even though he moved to Broward in 2015, it does not stop him from keeping the promise he made to himself and the city he Loves. I started Genesis from nothing in 2008. Yes, Mark did this with the help of some wonderful residents from all of the other neighborhood associations in Lake Worth Beach.

    Here is your "list":

    President: Mark A. Parrilla-Focarile
Vice President: Charles Willis (New) Former VP: Jeff Stendel
    Secretary: Joanne Greene
    Tresurer: Ani E. Sandoval

Just in case your curiosity pursues you further, there have never been any dues. I have, from my personal funds, have paid for website hosting/domain registration since 2010, mailers, catering, entertainment (DJ'S), all BY MYSELF! I do it because I want to and I am serious about my commitment to a better Lake Worth Beach!

I am also funding the Leocadia Fonseca Community Improvement Grant without taxpayer dollars.

I hope that satisfies your "curiosity"!

    Regards,
    Mark A. Parrilla-Focarile

  7. Does the State of FL allow a NA to be run by someone who does not even live in that NA area or county for that matter? It seems odd that all of this is allowed? Who are the other elected members of Genesis NA, do any of them live in that NA area? I am a bit confused on this one, is this an active NA with members, monthly meetings, minutes, etc. Where do you find all this info on their NA members and meetings, etc.?

  8. Lynn are you sure this is a legitimate NA in the city? Are you sure this is not some kind of sham? It seems odd that a member or president of an NA could be someone who does not even live in the city or county of a NA. This sounds very strange. Who other than Mark is part of this NA?

  10. Lynn, this is exactly what I told you was one of the many ego disorders I have had to navigate in order to successfully help our neighbors. Anonymous I am not going to ask how much you do to help those who live in Lake Worth Beach because any answer would be irrelevant since you do not have the testicular or ovarian fortitude to sign your statements with your name. If you have any other questions about Genesis, please feel free to join us at 1813 N J Street to help Mrs. Bracken get her yard cleaned up. Here is the phone number to the Florida Division of Corporations, they will gladly reiterate what I stated here previously, neighborhood associations are each governed in accordance to their own by-laws which are enforceable if accepted and certified by the state. As you can see when you go to sun biz that our certificate of status is current. Why would someone wanting to help someone in Lake Worth Beach without expectation of anything in return, seem strange to you? Anonymous I feel sorry for you, I see right through you and what you are attempting to do. Let's see if you a brave enough to do it person, you have your chance next week July 9, Tuesday. Monthly meetings, minutes, do not get the work done, actions do, and that is what I am about. We recently had a networking meeting where local vendors from our neighborhood came out, set up booths, and interacted with the community. Cumulatively small vendors left with 22 bookings for work they didn't have before that event. Those are our meetings. We were able to hand over a check for $4,500.00 to a family who was burglarized in the Genesis boundaries so they could replace everything stolen because Genesis started a GoFundMe to help the Choy family. How many neighborhood associations with regular monthly meetings, minutes, and bunch of members have accomplished that. Our website is an attestation to how much ONE person is capable of accomplishing when the CARE and community service is their religion. No matter from which direction you come for me, you will not be successful anonymous, MY ACTIONS SPEAK MUCH LOUDER THAN MY WORDS, DO YOURS? Sit down anonymous!

    Sincerely,
    Mark A. Parrilla-Focarile

  11. I would think a neighborhood meeting could just be an impromptu group that likes to meet, talk about ideas, and pick up trash and tidy up the neighborhood if they want to.

Why are you making a Federal Case out of it 6:45? Are you worried that it's a Bund meeting, or perhaps a group of Fellow Travelers?

  12. Anonymous 6:45am if you are too lazy to come out and help Genesis on July 9th at 1813 N J St. at 8:30am then I invite you to the August 6th City Commission meeting where Commissioner Scott Maxwell and I will be giving the first $1,209.00 Leocadia Fonseca Community Improvement Grant my business and another business "Enticed Artistry" from WEST PALM BEACH; have funded. I know I would be embarrassed if I was sitting on my computer attacking people who didn't live in my city that are doing more than I was anonymous 6:45! Check yourself, get a hobby or something!

  13. Sounds like some get in such a huff and have too much ego here! There is nothing wrong with questioning all about the Genesis NA, many question can see why people would question all of this, so getting into such a huff about all only makes one question more and it makes you look guilty or territorial or protective of some secrets or something, this is all super odd smoky, why get in a huff? It seems like there should be 20-30 from Genesis NA and others to help out with this cause. God bless and peace be with you all!

  14. Anonymous 10:15 PM I will address this one last time, as I am detouring from my usual policy of not responding to cowards who cast aspersions behind a screen ANONYMOUSLY! No where did I object to the questions being asked, what I object to is the fact that anyone with more then a single digit IQ can retrieve the information they are asking for on the website I provided. My personal cellphone number is listed on the Genesis site and I have yet to receive ONE PHONE CALL asking anything. I forgot what great thinker said "Only those who are doing less than you will criticize you." since no one is signing their name, I will believe that is absolutely true. Have questions? Ask them as you roll up your sleeves and help us clean up Mrs. Bracken's yard 1813 N J St. July 9, 2019 - 8:30am. What I was perturbed about was that someone was stupid enough to suggest I am a "scammer" well then I must be the first scammer who pays for community events from his pocket, takes time to fundraise for a burglary victim and hands them the check at a commission meeting. If you want to see what a scam artist I am, come to the August 6, 2019 City Commission Meeting where the recipient of the Leocadia Fonseca Community Improvement Grant will be handed a $1,209.00 by Commissioner Scott Maxwell that is funded 50% by my biz and 50% from another biz from West Palm Beach that was generous enough to donate $604.50. Genesis is in the process of advocating to one of our corporate sponsors to get a senior disabled woman's wood siding on her home replaced, she does not live within the Genesis boundaries, but we have teamed up with Whispering Pines to get our sponsor to donate the funds to pay a contractor to have her home resided so she can avoid code fines. Genesis has begun working with the city to identify a property within the Genesis boundaries that I can purchase and install a park and a community center named after my grandmother. I have recently settled a lawsuit and this is what I am choosing to do with the funds. Some scam artist I am, I guess I should try another way of life? Nothing Genesis has ever done has been under the shroud of secrecy or with any attempts to keep anything from ANYBODY! So, YES, I give myself permission to get my Calvin's in a knot when some insipid cowards try to dirty the efforts I have so sincerely given since the day I moved into the city in 2008 and continue to selflessly give FOUR YEARS AFTER I MOVED OUT! I guess all the events that the local TV media outlets covered were all FAKE NEWS! LMAO!

    Sincerely,
    Mark A. Parrilla-Focarile

  15. why spend so much time with this guy.let him pat himself on the back and leave it at that.there are a lot of residents that help their neighbors for no glory

    ReplyDelete
  16. @4:45--What glory exactly? Working his butt off to clean a property? Spending his own money to help a disabled woman?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Lynn thank you for the declaration of common sense. Not only am I lousy at being a scam artist, I am now being accused of seeking glory for trying to help a disabled woman who called me asking for help. I was not going to refuse to help her, regardless of what the feeble minded cowards have to say behind the shameful shield of anonymous. If anyone else would like to seek glory with us, please, you are formally invited to join us "glory seekers" LOL! on July 9, 2019 at 1813 N J Street at 8:30am and we can all get "GLORIFIED" together!

    "Glorifyingly" yours,
