New York Times and Anonymous Op-Ed-writer

It's unbelievable that the NY Times would publish an Op-Ed piece with no name attached. And his comments are based on what facts? Major newspapers almost never publish unnamed op-ed pieces. The author was said to be speaking from his own personal ethics and conscience. If he really was ethical, he would have resigned.

The New York Times formulated a policy two years ago that said one of three top editors had to review and sign off on articles that depend primarily on information from unnamed sources. But in this case, they know the source and obviously trust him. It still could end up as a bomb that could explode unexpectedly and damage The Times and whatever credibility that they have left.

18 U.S. Code § 2384 – Seditious conspiracy

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
