Lake Worth Workshop tonight on Penny Sales Tax
Please note that this workshop meeting is scheduled for 3 hours.
The penny sales tax was voted in by the electorate to be used for crumbling bridges, potholes, faulty school air conditioners and leaky roofs. It is estimated to generate $2.7 billion over the next decade with Lake Worth getting around $2 mil a year. The County plans on spending $31 million to build a homeless resource center in or near Lake Worth and renovate run-down motels for use as temporary housing for the homeless.
If you recall, the Trio along with city manager Michael Bornstein, wanted it to be used to bring the Atlanta Braves to John Prince Park. As that didn't work out for them, tonight we will find out where they want to spend this money. I have a good idea on what they would like to do with it. What's your guess?
This is where they will get the money to build new pools.
ReplyDeleteI believe Herman Robinson alluded to that, @7:50. They want to take this valuable property and cement it over for a parking garage? Who knows. What we do know is the commission as well as Bornstein have closed the pool and it's NOT budgeted for 2018.
ReplyDeleteactions speak louder than words
ReplyDeleteThis money needs to go to what it was sold to the voters as - infrastructure.
ReplyDeleteA penny for your thoughts.
ReplyDelete@9:30--that's all my thoughts are worth.
